Once there was a hospitable gerbil,
Didn't talk much, wasn't too verbal.
He'd have folks over for a buffet
That he hosted at one each Wednesday.

A blueberry patch was right next door,
That provided main course, and decor.
Niblets of grass-seed, sunshine warm,
Added greens (and kept lawns shorn).

The idea was to keep friendship tight,
So they ate outside in bright sunlight,
And if the weather was awfully drizzly,
His burrow prevented a dizzy tizzy!

What an appealing picture of that community. And the little fellow was a wonderful host, wasn't he? Really evocative poem.

The jumble itself wasn't much of a problem. The clue words came easily and the solution was evident once its letters were extracted.
I do like puns .

I just looked at the four. GERBIL might have been difficult. But the rest came immediately including the riddle.

I didn't have time to solve the 6*6 . The CC didn't get started until late(I just posted there too)

I did indeed have trouble with that third Jumble clue. But I've learned to try to solve the cartoon without it, and sure enough, I got the solution! Yay! But that still didn't help me with that third word, and so I waited to check out Owen's poem. And Ta-da! there was that GERBIL right in the first line (thought I could mention it, since Wilbur already pointed it out). I bet I would never have figured it out otherwise. So, in the end, a fun Jumble with helpful assistance from this Jumble blog--thanks, everybody!

I kind of hope that Wilbur thought he was looking at yesterday's jumble, which made it ok to refer to a jumble word explicitly, without an attempt to hide it, before the designated time. As Misty said, once done, it's done.

Sandy, yes I did . When I saw today's J I thought it was a duplicate.

Then again with some words the poem makes them obvious. G's and B's???

Now to drop back to Sunday's

WC.

Btw. Misty, I too would love your take on the Hemingway article

Glad to hear it.

I just looked at the Sunday J's,riddles and verses. So much fun while I was slaving over the stove*" .

I mentioned, before about the 50s Sc-Fi about the cosmic shift that enabled animal intelligence .

WYRM(Worm) for dragon is used by Tolkien too .
