|| joust, valve, bubble, knotty, (a) stable job. || hardly, grocer, shadow, prance, grille, uproot, guilty as charged.
The opening poem contains all the words (or variations of them) from today's Jumble.

Horses were extinct now, they couldn't take the heat
But the S.C.A. was still alive and on its feet!
Anachronisms were their game, what they were all about,
And so it was quite logical to schedule a joust!
Their steeds were manifestations of steampunk at its best!
Valves sent steamy clouds thru the nostrils from the chests!
The saddles and the bridles looked like naughty Celtic knots!
The solar powered engines boiled and bubbled with the hots!
Squires knew their parts, to lead the horses to their knights.
No horseshit in the stables, so the job-site smelled alright.
In the jumble of equipment, armored knights located lances --
Holographic skewers gave the crowd some gory glances!
The specter crept along, unnoticed in the night.
A vigilant observer might have seen a shadow, slight.
But no one was vigilant. Carousers in the street
Danced and pranced and merry-made complete!
At the grocers store the grille was closed and locked.
Between the bars the specter slipped, unblocked.
In the office, by the safe, an intruder knelt.
The dial was illumed by the flashlight in his belt.
The specter was behind him, and drew his Taser out.
Hardly two feet away, electrodes made the miscreant shout!
Uprooted from his pose, he had a spasm and collapsed.
Unconsciousness had claimed him in process of his acts.
The vigilante ghost tapped in to call the city guards.
"A guilty thief is here -- by 5,000 volts he's charged!"
Both jumbles were pretty straightforward. J4 was quite obvious. On J6, the second and fifth clues took a little thought, but once all the letters were there, the solution leapt out at me.
I really like the J4 poem, especially for its allusion to climate change (?), although I'm not sure that humans would stand the heat better than horses.
The J6 poem is such clever wordplay; the solution it works up to is a really ingenious twist, I thought.
Wow! Six items on a Sunday Jumble with a long reveal down below. I had trouble with #2 and #4 and #6 but once I wrote them down I got them pretty quickly. And the final answer just popped right up and was clever and fun. So, a great Jumble morning, made even better by Owen's delightful poem. Many thanks for that too. Have a great Sunday, everybody.
I only have the 6*6 . #2 held me up a tad. Just a few letters got me the riddle.
I liked the poem

I guess people must be doing the jumbles on different websites or in different papers. I've fallen into the habit of using this blog site (with scratch paper if necessary!), because Owen always lists both Sunday jumbles early. So helpful.
There may be one, but I don't know of any newspaper or website except this one that has both Sunday Jumbles.
Oh. I've never looked at other sites and my paper only has the j6 on Sunday.
So happy you created this site. Thanks
