The opening poem contains all the words (or variations of them) from today's Jumble.

It's so nice sometimes to sit and shoot the breeze.
To lounge about in comfort, and converse at ease!
To let the world's cares go by unaddressed,
And let the cranial walnut have a term to rest.
To leave the world in limbo, let it run on its own,
To put aside its pandering -- also your cell phone --
Takes an ounce of effort, and a dash of self-control.
It's worth it to get clear of the pundit and the troll.
Let yourself be free of the thrashing trending throng.
It so often matters little which view is right or wrong.
Unless you take a breather, perspective loses focus.
Reading poetry (like this) can do mental hocus pocus!
Love the poem, Owen. My cranial walnut often needs a rest. And I applaud the really sneaky way you included the solution.
As for the jumble, I cried uncle. The clues were easy enough, but I couldn't seem to come up with two words that made sense for the solution. So I gave in and looked it up. A real groaner of a pun that I laughed at too.
P.S. The Tribune site left out "the" in the middle again. That wasn't what interfered with my solution this time, because I referred back to your posting. But I wish they'd stop doing that!
A neat, rhythmic poem & and a clever Jumble solution today!

Had MOBIL for the first Jumble word and couldn't get the third, so had to come to Owen's poem for much-needed help. But still couldn't get the solution, though, like Sandyanon, I cracked up laughing when I finally looked it up. Well, Jumbles are always a delight, and I love the way the guys in this cartoon have different hair and shoes, and one wears glasses. Nice tables and chairs with funny curls. Must be fun to draw all this--a career I might have enjoyed when I was younger.
Forgot to say I loved the red wine in the cartoon guys' glasses.
I wonder if the solution came so quickly for me because I had just written the particular cheese on my shopping list...
Still, for Sandy and Misty, I'd have thought Owen's first line hint should have been a big help. And (at least in time for Misty) my rhyme might have closed the deal--no?
The title of this page says we all want to help! And save you from having to look elsewhere.

But, OMK, I rarely look at the poem until I've solved the jumble. And when I do look, I always mention it. I looked it up today on jumbleanswers, not the poem. And the poem's first line was what I applauded Owen for; yes, I too thought it was ingenious.

Could you please contact Tribune Content Agency and let them know they've fouled up the online Jumble 3 times this week! For example, today the USA Today site had it correct as
OOOOO THE "OOOOO"
SHOOT (the) "BRIES"
The Chicago Tribune site left out the set word, and showed the answer as
OOOOO "OOOOO"
SHOOT "BRIES"
And the Shockwave site insisted the answer was
OOOOO THE "OOOOO"
SHOOT (the) "THEBR"
and wouldn't give a ta-da for the real answer.
SFAIK, all online Jumble sites match the format of one or another of these three sites, and has the same glitches.

We've let them know again. It's crazy. No clue who's dropping the ball. I'm very upset about it. Really bothering me. We've been in touch with them all week about this.

Glad to know you're aware of it and trying to correct it! Thank you for replying!
Wow! Didn't know the problems were so pervasive.
