The opening poem contains all the words (or variations of them) from today's Jumble.

The glitch appears to be gone, solved at last.
Misty, I hope you looked at my comment last night.
The following poem is in the running for my worst ever.
Bernard had a goal to be in the orchestra
He could play the violin, the cello, et cetera.
He felt he had a knack to pass the audition.
Easily he made the cut for the coveted position.
Another contestant was heard to mutter
That he was crafty to credit his mother.
Pithy & utile, Owen. If not among your finest, it is certainly economical and touches all the bases. (Did he thank mater, and was she influential with the orchestra's board?)
Today's solution slices into the brain before bothering with the 4 Js.
A friend rescued a tag-less dog, an ornery cur, who threatened the neighbors. He wanted to let it play outside, but, alas, he had no fence. His solution was to put him on a long leash and stake the mutt in the yard.

The poem may not be your finest, Owen, but you're very hard on yourself. It certainly does the job, and I think that one or two of those clue words were too clumsy to use smoothly.
At any rate, this jumble was ridiculously easy. Too easy. Well, it's Monday.
Owen, thank you for your cartoon color explanation yesterday, and how nice to see the highly colorful cartoon with red scissor handles today. Also, I liked your today's poem.
This was the easiest Jumble in my memory. I read the cartoon and instantly put in the solution, without even looking at any of the words. Then I did the words and was happy that all my solution letters were there in the circles. Well, hey, it was an easy answer with only seven letters. And then there was the additional treat of Ol'Man Keith's funny play on the solution. All makes for a good start to the week.
Agreed, I did it all in my head, starting with the Riddle-Solution. Four J's, no jotting needed.
I figured that we might get an orchestral theme starting with #1.
I'm up near Ocala so no TBTimes xword until later.
