The opening poem contains all the words (or variations of them) from today's Jumble.

Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme,
May bring to mind a more benign time
When songs were less of violence and hate
And more about love's embrace.
Some sang on a ranch around a campfire,
Others let simmer their hostility dire.
Country and folk songs set the bar high,
Metal and rap just spit in their eye.
"Please, dear, don't floor it with that Ferrari approaching! Use your brain, just cool it, and let the car by--for God's sake!"
Such nostalgia, Owen... I share your longing, but I fear we are outnumbered, if not by actual headcount, then by our younger activists, those who control pop media.

Delightful poem, Owen. I got all four Jumble words, but wasn't sure about the solution until I came to your second to the last line. Wonderful cartoon picture with that elegant setting, and that interesting hair-do on the waiter dude. And loved your play on the solution, Ol'Man Keith.
Have a lovely Christmas Eve, everybody. Especially you, Owen, at what may be a somewhat difficult time for you--you are in our thoughts.
We'll put , Misty and a delightful holiday to you.
Not to speak of the cinema. I search through Pluto and prime but the movies are unwatchable. I did watch Ivanhoe which took some liberties.
Ivanhoe is a favorite of mine. I've toyed with the idea of a Hamilton style approach. In my version we never see Ivanhoe nor hear him; Brian de Bois Gilbert is the tortured hero.
Added bonus: "King" John can be modeled after a conniving, ego driven skunk caricature type.
All this from another great poem that used music over the tavern. We were just talking about the John Hancock tower in Boston where the glass windows went flying out.
And finally we get the clecho of thyme echoed over at the laxw

Re. Ivanhoe. I posted a link to Blondel vis a vis Alan A Dale. I can't keep my xwords straight these days
