The opening poem contains all the words (or variations of them) from today's Jumble.

Getting old can be bunches of great fun.
What matters is how you get it done.
From age's aches there's no escape,
But other aspects can be great shakes!
You get to retire, you can sleep to noon,
You can float around like a helium balloon!
No deadlines loom, no quotas to meet,
You can spend all day in stockinged feet!
From societal restraints you're free as a bird!
That stuffy decorum you can kick to the curb!
Eat when you're hungry, nap when you can,
You're a crazy old lady, an eccentric old man!
Aah, yes--the finer joys of aging visited yet again! This is sub-category Retirement. Nicely done, Owen. I think you've captured ALL the positives. The only one I might add is the deference sometimes shown by younger, abler souls on crowded public transportation. (It's been a while since I personally found myself in that situation.)
You have caused me to reflect, however, on the VALUE of external deadlines, as the Internal ones are proving to be wet noodles.
OK, of those two high scoring show Yorkies, I find I am truly impressed by the superb younger one.

Loved, loved, loved your positive poem, Owen (hey, I'm a senior citizen). I got the first three Jumble words, and that gave me enough to get the solution. But that fourth word drove me crazy, even though I knew from the solution that the two circles would be H and U. Decided to go to Owen's poem for help, and there it was! Many thanks, Owen. And then, of course, waited to see what Ol'Man Keith would come up with--a totally delightful word play, it turned out. So, thanks to you too, OMK. I also loved the cartoon, especially with the cool outfits in the color version.
