Three short poems.

An animal to shun, if you're ever in a fight,
Is the sumo champion, she'll give you a fright!
I am referring to that river-horse humongous,
The African heavyweight the hippopotamus!

The most flirtatious members of the insect clan
Often live in houses built for them by man.
When they come a-courting, timid people flee!
Pollinating flowers is the love of honey-bee!

There are cabins of logs, castles of stones
Thatched grass houses and adobe homes.
A photograph of my most humble abode
Would show a stucco finish, Santa Fe mode.

Excellent verses, fine for their variety & economy of detail matched to expression!
I'm particularly fond of the 2nd, Owen, as it reminds me of the time I spent earning my merit badge in beekeeping. It was at Camp Royaneh, and Uncle Ed was our mentor. He was fearless about stings. We would watch him endure several at a time, showing us the behaviors to avoid.

I was tempted to go for a Spoonerism of today's solution, just switching the letters ("f" & "ph") of the two words. But that would only make the point that it's not the letters but the phonemes that must be changed.
Instead, I'll settle for a semi-political note:
Our POTUS would prefer new arrivals from Norway. I'm pretty sure he'd settle for a boat of Finnish immigrants; they're even closer to his fond Russia.

Nice how you worked all the Jumble words into the poem, Owen. I got them all this morning, with a little work on the fourth one. But the solution popped right up, and I think your play on the two words is a delight, Ol'Man Keith. Fun Jumble all around this morning, and I loved the three photographs in the background of the couple in the cartoon--a nice "gloss" on the solution.

Or perhaps a boat of Innishmen from the Emerald Isle...
But Trump is sure to harbor old prejudices. Is Eire one of his ****hole countries?

Always interesting how things seem so obvious once you know them, and not so obvious before you do. The clues were not difficult today, but for some reason I couldn't come up with the glaringly obvious solution. Had to go away and come back, when it did become glaringly clear!

Enjoyed the three separate poems, Owen, especially the third: it gave me mental pictures. And I'm sure Santa Fe and SoCal look alike in many ways.
