The Tortuga bar was a nasty place
For the nastiest men on the good earth's face.
A pirate's den in the Caribbean Sea
For the meanest of sailor and swabbie.

But the rum was good and went down smooth.
The wenches in sight were long in the tooth.
But for men of the sea, from land been riven --
What the hell, at least they were women!

When a sailor drinks he gets more than tipsy
He can get fully sloshed on rum or whiskey,
Staggering up the gangplank can sober a drunk
When a misstep slips him to a harbor dunk!

Yay, you're back! I really hope things are going better for you.

I love your description of the pirates; really brings them to life.

The jumble was pretty easy -- clues no problem and with all the letters available, the solution popped right up.

Welcome home, Owen! It is good to see you at the top of the page, back at the helm of your creation.
The Tortuga bar may be a nasty place, but with you as our good guide, we feel confident & comfortable exploring it.
Arr, matey! Watch yer step--lest y' stumble back into me 'n take me off'n the plank wit' ye!

Today's solution was as easy as Sandy says, nothing to challenge us, certainly no cause for dyspepsia.

I'm in early. Had more trouble with the 5's . Good to see you rhyming, Owen.
Reminds me of a ditty penned for a nuptials:

Much like the(TIPSY) maiden from France
She came through the doors in a trance

To treat her dyspepsia
We suggested 12 Steps for her

Added bonus. Finding romance

Misty ~ Note that today's hint is not a spoonerism either. I doubt that one is ever possible with a single word. Maybe it could be done by breaking up the syllables; I'll keep an eye out for a potential example.
For today's rhyme, note that the final 2 letters--"ia"--are not italicized. I imagine the word pronounced as Chico Marx would do it, as "I gotta da Dyspeps'."

Well, I had trouble with the second word for some silly reason(I have a couple of glasses of wine around dinner time, but am not much of a drinker). So, had to come to your poem, Owen, to get the word--and once I had it, the solution did pop right up. Thanks for pointing out the missing italics in your last two letters, Ol' Man Keith. So if it isn't a spoonerism, what would you call your today's letter jumble?

Did you know the New York baseball team has a companion team in a women's baseball league? They're the Sis Mets !

Close, Owen! Very close.
I was toying with something along the line of CYS Meps, but couldn't stretch "Meps" to mean a damn thing.

Misty ~ I haven't given it a name. I was just thinking in terms of rhyme. I guess we can call it an elision.

Romance may be found when tips-oh,
Or maybe it's even more likely.
But True Love? One doubts it's a Dipso-
Maniac's lot-- No, not quite the
Thing when the brains are addled.
Cupid prefers us not to be rattled.

OMK, ironically I thought of DIPSO on the CC today before TOPER. Here was my paean to the groom

Much like the man from Tashkent
He to the halls from his tent*

Into the program he joined
And thrust out the ruinous coin

Today a most elegant gent

* He really was living in a tent
** Right out of the book

Came to the halls

Btw, I completely disagree with the majority on football placement. There are five major conferences (if one counts the PAC).

They each have championships. Let the five championship winners and one non big conf wildcard(UCF last year, Utah this year) play for the championship.
.
Two seeds play the other two winners.

Btw, I would seed LSU and Clemson ahead of OSU. As it is they may lose to Oklahoma.
