First the Reeling
Kilts swirl on the dance floor,
Haunting notes of the flute float.
Ancient rules govern the steps,
Knees high - never a trudge
Nor a snarl in the circles
OMK- compare our titles! I love your “lest thy swirl become a trudge”. I see the imagery of the grieving person winding down like a spinning top losing its momentum. The solution is to “toot a flute to sorrow”. (Give it the bird!). And all this is evoked in a short haiku. Thank you.
I have not managed any rhyme today.
WC- Woo-boo! I managed to guess all four J words, but not the solution.
But I think I agree with OMK, that it would be better not to reveal them nakedly the night before.
Wordle is a bear today. Look at all the possibilities for the second and last letter!

You capture a fine spirit with your swirling kilts, CEh! It’s a smart start to your poem, as it sets a swift pace, and our eyes sweep up the rest brightly. And lightly.
Interesting that both you & I turned to folk ways in response to the J-words—you explicitly with your “ancient rules” and I in choosing “thyself.”
Yes, I appreciated “Reeling” in your title. Phonetically not far from “Wheeling,” and an easy step into your folk dance!
(Given the strange pun in the J-solution, the other option was a “V” sound, but that would have led nowhere.)

"Thankful Victory"
The mayoral campaign was a difficult trudge
that required Leonard to learn
that his feelings his voters would judge
and this could help him to better govern.
His campaign advertised this swirl
and credit to his work did flute,
and this worked as many voters did hurl
their praises and did not stay mute.
He won, with votes not the worst
and now Leonard into thanks can burst.
OMK- thanks for your words of encouragement about my offering today. It is interesting where the combination of words takes us.
DH groaned when he got the J pun today.
Misty- my Wordle clue was a different animal than OMK’s.
It looks like you and I had almost exactly the same struggle today. Once we had guess two, there were many letters that could fill the second and last spots.
Your poem today takes us into the political world, rather than the musical one of my offering. Trudge might be a prophetic word for the toil of a politician’s daily work IMHO. But Leonard has started well and is full of happy thankfulness. We can only wish him well in his new position (and hope that it is only praise that the voters continue to hurl!).
Your poem, Misty, is quite timely, and indeed it puts me in mind of our local unfinished count--not far from either of us, up in L.A. for mayor.
Leonard is certainly luckier than Caruso and Bass, as they continue to wait for a final tally. Leonard can burst with thanks from now through this evening when, by law, late-arriving L.A. votes can still be counted!

Thank you both, OMK and CanadianEh! for your lovely verses and your very kind responses to mine. We've all had a lot of fun with Jumble words, didn't we? OMK, I loved your tooting flute, and CE!, your swirling kilt was also a treat.
One of the delights on this blog is how we all (including Wilbur) have such very different poetic styles and practices. I think that variety gives not only our offerings much variety but reminds us of the huge horizon of poetry itself.
Maybe I ventured into politics with my verse today because our current political situation is very complicated and stressful, and it's hard not to have it in back of our minds. Is yours at all worrisome in Canada, CEh? And, yes, OMK, even our local situation is so troublesome with so many votes still to be counted. Let's just pray that things will settle down in a good way and that we'll have a peaceful and healthy and productive year ahead.
I remembered that I was friends with Owen on FB so I responded to his SO Brent who'd posted that he was in a Special Care Facility in NM

The L.A. vote should be settled tonight, Misty, one week from voting day. By law, all ballots will be accepted if mailed on time and rec’d one week after the official day.
Bass was leading in the count, and it will take a surprising upset for Caruso to overtake her.
