The opening poem contains all the words (or variations of them) from today's Jumble.
Comments are welcomed! And couching them in Poetry is NOT required.

Since August 2022, Wordle brags and links to original jigsaw puzzles are also welcomed!

Do not explicitly reveal any of the actual Jumble or Wordle answer words until after closing time, but embedding them surreptitiously in comment sentences is encouraged.

Today’s Jumble haiku:
(How Ida managed to get hired as a Walmart greeter is beyond me. Her ‘Hello’ is icy-cold. She would give herself frostbite, if it weren’t for her padded chinos.
At first her eyes seem filled with ….)

”Light— but ‘Nay’!”

Ida greets?—Inept!
Her chilly smiles won’t cheer you.
Khaki keeps her warm.

Here’s another, w/ more disguising.
(Sometimes, folk develop a specific skill, but use it to rest on their laurels.)

She got cocky. She
earned a green thumb, an apti-
tude which she’ll lean on.

I had to hit the books for

Wordle 529 3/6

๐ŸŸจ⬛๐ŸŸฉ⬛⬛
⬛⬛๐ŸŸฉ๐ŸŸจ⬛
๐ŸŸฉ๐ŸŸฉ๐ŸŸฉ๐ŸŸฉ๐ŸŸฉ

Fln, Misty I can't remember wordle five minutes after solving. Some folk use the same starter word each time.

I almost used one of the J's but it had an E. As it was I hit jackpot especially with the middle letter

Today we have some advice for a young person considering an “all expenses paid” easy road through university. Be sure to read the fine print!

Opt In (or Out)?

Study for that degree,
Cram day and night,
Wear the khaki,
But keep the end in sight.
Service in the army
Such ill years may invite,
Enrolling for ROTC
May involve a fight.

OMK- Ida sounds like an ex-military person with the khaki. That may explain her icy demeanour. But she is probably efficient, and thus keeps her job.
Your second offering truly does hide those J words. I found the K word first, then the I word (in it’s adapted form!). You hid the C word much like I did. The D was the last to be earned, spread over three words! Splendid.

"Tough Life"

The fellow dressed in khaki
felt chilly and looked tacky.

He wanted to get away
and study for a degree,
and working night and day,
he hoped would be the key.

It turned out he was not inept,
and in the end his promise kept.

Congrats to CEh! Even w/ a hint, that’s a real leap.
Best a de heap!
I did it in 2, but used the current bot starter.

Your poem is very satisfying, with rhymes and a well-developed theme.
You spread the C word over three—as did I, to be technical.

WC ~ Not bad! Under par and first to post. Well done, sir, & with a gracious hint!

Misty ~ The D word took you in the same academic direction as it did CEh!
K didn’t suggest the military for you, though, probably more like my casual chinos.
Glad he finished up, hopefully in 4 years, but at least within 6. (He wouldn’t have been helped by the current strike!)

My goodness, that Ida is a tough cookie, Ol' Man Keith--or is that a cocky cookie?

CanadianEh!, hope your student ends up with a good career, when he's done. But tell him not to sign up for my class.

Wilbur, I just wrote my self a note that says "WRITE DOWN WORDLE WORDS." Hope I remember to read it tomorrow morning and actually do it.

Have a fun day, everybody.

Misty-as OMK said, we both went the academic route today ( and I had the Wordle as even more incentive). Great rhyming

OMK- thanks for your kind words

"Lee," said Chet, "my fiance is meeting me atTaco Bell at eight
Join us for chile but beware of the fierce jalapeรฑos hiding on the plate
You'd think Mauna Loa was spewing hot lava inside your mouth
Just a pinch , a degree of caution is needed with the food of the South"

[Lois arrives and is introduced]
"Chet , honey, isn't that the song on the stereo from the night at the bar?
"Lee, he was wearing these Khaki pants, and if you think that's bizarre
He was half in the bag, 'completely inept' not too bright"
"You seem to be revising our history, darling, but yes, it truly is
Like Day and Night."

Excellent, Wilbur, a classic response to the J-words in your C&L context.
The Mauna Loa reference updates the story to nearly the present hour.

OMK, thanks for appreciating the latest C&L.
