I give you a nostalgic Canadian scene today.
Winter Wonderland
The Currier and Ives photo
Evokes a fleet of memories
(And unforced tears)
Of loved ones and family
Gone now for many years.
Horse and sleigh,
Fleecy long underwear,
Woollen sweater,
Rosy cheeks and frozen hair
In the weak sun of December.
OMK- we went in different directions with the words today, but still a winter/Christmas theme.
Imagine if those naughty elves fleeced kids!!! Lumps of coal for them.
"Evading"
Sam had to use a tricky sleigh
to avoid being fleeced
by his brother who wanted him to pay
a high extravagant lease.
Sam tried to weaken his brother's force
by offering him a treat--
a free week of rides on a borrowed horse
that was gentle and rapid and fleet.
And to win the game of being a debtor
he gave his brother his sweater.
Ol' Man Keith, looks like you're getting started on your funny Christmas spirit already. Looking forward to more holiday humor from you in the weeks ahead.
Loved your Winter Wonderland poem, CanadianEh!, and just hope I can stop thinking about that Fleecy long underwear. Makes me laugh.

I presumed that like me, you use in the title whatever words are hard to put into your haiku/poem/verse. But you have changed your pattern today.
I could have used the J-words either way today, CEh!

I was all over the place, OMK, my #4 was POOCH which previously had the first O not #2.ie. not in 2nd position

The give-and-take between Chet & Lois re. Xmas presents is a little too transactional for lovers. My guess is they have more history in this department than has been revealed to your readers.
