Todayโ€™s Jumble haiku:
(One of the moms (who was in touch with the CHP) recโ€™d a tip from a โ€œresponsible family memberโ€ in the form of rolled-up note inserted in her mailboxโ€ฆ)

โ€œTrust the CHiPsโ€

The scroll drew โ€œJuniorโ€โ€™s
truck & warned of a hidden
flask. MADD followed up.

Or, in an American โ€œHi-cool!โ€โ€”keeping to the total syllable count, but ignoring the traditional line division:

The scroll drew โ€œJuniorโ€โ€™s truck.
It warned of a hidden flask.
MADD followed up.

And here, an embedded version:
imagining a round flask and a young couple, daring to drive wherever it spinsโ€ฆ

Let the flask roll, dear
June! Your heart, like my old truck,
will follow that path.

"Drinking Problem"

The driver was not up to his task
the day he was driving his truck.
He had been drinking beer from a flask
and that ended him up in bad luck.

He swore he's been drinking just for kicks
from a bottle that he stole.
But the jury considered his junior tricks,
and did a serious sentence scroll.

After jail the guy ended up in rehab,
became sober, and now has a job.
Grateful to be driving a cab,
he'll now never a bottle rob.

Ol' Man Keith said...

Your driver, Misty, has a checkered record.
I โ€˜spect he did not get that cab job easily.
He might even be โ€œJunior,โ€ my own reprobate, at a later stage in his career.

Enjoyed your alternating scheme, although it has its perils, as we see in the end.
Still, it is worth it, as you prove while daily taking on the toughest challenges.

Misty perhaps he met some of C&Last friends at rehab

I doubt it was beer in that flask

I posted this last night but it disappeared. Owen? Here it is again

Chet knew he mustn't dwell on office negativity nor gobble up disdain
Let the boys have their bucket of laughs, after all no pain no gain
If it spiraled out of control it might get dicey and to start a fight
Accomplished nothing except to make him look like Bongo the monkey.
He was committed to pray for patience before his head hit the pillow at night.
"Grant me serenity to accept that which I can't change and let the rest be".

OMK, hope your MADD program worked in the end for Junior and June and that all were all right in the end. And thank you for the kind response to my verse.

And glad to see Chet still hanging in there, Wilbur.

CEh!
You are often the one to spot the degree of challenge presented by the J-words.
These, I submit, are among the toughest weโ€™ve seen of late.

Sometimes, however, the effort required to connect them in the same world can lead to the most poetic results.
That was in my thinking as I finished my 3rd haiku (above). By adding embedment to the challenge, I arrived at a piece that either evokes the most romantic of moonlit moods, or simply strains credulity.

Misty ~ Did you spot the relationship between Junior & June? Youโ€™re not always seeing what you may hearโ€ฆ.

OMK, I figured Junior and June were on the same path, if not together, but let me know if I missed important differences between them.

OMK, although I only used Saturday's J's combining two days often gives me more flexibility.

Way back in the days of Bilbo I found it easier to narrate a story and include J's than create a poem around them

But I did do that between Ivanhoe and C&L

C&L arose because SEEDY showed up. What's more seedy than a seedy bar and I've been in a few.

The last was called "The Businessmen's Club. By one pm the smoke was too thick. I'd read the Boston Globe in the morning over two 15 cent beers

I don't know if you will catch it, Misty. I see you haven't been doing any of the recent embedding of the J-words.

Which two words are missing?
If you take the time to sound out the first two lines of the 3rd poem, and listen for the missing words, you should be in luck.
If you don't spot them, just try slowing your reading down.

Wilbur, it didn't disappear.
Your C&L update wasn't posted last night, but the night before.

Go back to the 24th, and you will find it still there. My response is there too, and then you answered me back about the AA prayer on the 25th--yesterday.

Iโ€™m late to the party, and too tired to compose.
But congrats to OMK on that third haiku and itโ€™s three well-hidden J words.
I especially loved that flask roll incorporating two of them!!

Night all!
