”Downtick Limerick”

The week rolls around—once again,
and I post this brief note—friend to friend.
I don’t work on Sunday;
not back till Monday,
but I’ll look in to see what you’ve penned.

"Bright Writing"

Scott was a well-known writer
who boldly produced a new script.
His future could not have been brighter
with the stellar puns he'd encrypt.

He gave himself considerable leeway
and never forgot to adjust
any lines that might from his theme stray,
and thus earned his readers' trust.

His last job was awarded an emblem
that he treasured as his greatest gem.

Just be happy to do your job.

I took a page from OMK’s haiku’s yesterday and “encrypted” (like Misty’s Scott) several of the J words today.
I am most proud of the B and L combination. See if you can find it.
The Wordle is naked in there also , hint hint to Misty.

Misty- I love how you give names to all the people in your poems every day. It personalized them.
Scott sounds like a great (and punny) writer (which will also hint our Wordle today).
Your rhyme scheme is great, and the rhyming words fit very naturally.
I have only one small nit with the last line, as its rhythm doesn’t seem to fit- has an extra beat for my musical ear.
Can I suggest “that was treasured- his greatest gem.”
OMK may “boldly weigh in” here!

Woohoo! Woohoo! Thank you, thank you, thank you, kind CanadianEh!! Thanks to your hint, I got my first Wordle ever in just two tries:

Wordle 526 2/6

⬜⬜⬜⬜🟨
🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩

I still can't believe it--I didn't think this was possible and would ever happen. You just ended my Thanksgiving weekend with the greatest joy I could have imagined. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Am still reeling from my unexpected Wordle success, thanks again, CE.

Now on to poetry. What a delight to have you open our Sunday blog by poetisizing (I just made up that word) your message that you wouldn't be working today (e.g. giving us a verse) by giving us a limerick, Ol' Man Keith. Sundays don't start off any better than this--thank you so much.

And then we get Wilbur's so interesting Wordle--would be terrific if we could actually see it verbally.

And then CanadianEh!'s Stella weighing in with that amazing piece of work--getting six, yes six, complex and cool Jumble words into a four-line verse. Just amazing--I don't know how you do it, and couldn't believe that I found all six J words plus solution there. So, thank you for that too.

And finally, thank you also for your kind words about my verse. I usually give my characters a name because listing them other-wise doesn't make them as much alive to me. Hope no one objects. And you are absolutely right: your last line would have fit my poem so much better--thank you for that too.

Have a wonderful Sunday evening, everybody, to bring your Thanksgiving weekend to a great end.

I did a lukewarm job on Wordle 527 5/6

⬛🟩⬛⬛⬛
⬛🟩🟨⬛⬛
⬛🟩⬛🟩🟨
⬛🟩🟨🟩🟩
🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩

Today. Better that than my odorous #4

OMK would have fun figuring that out. Btw, I used a Monday J to start off

Now to find out how C-eh hid his Sunday J's

Well, I got how you his the J's and you did a good job with riddle-solution, C-eh.

But I didn't catch the way you his #5

Yes, Misty has got the six J's plus the riddle-solution neatly in her ten lines. Good suggestion on #10

WC- #5 (the S word) is naked
I suspect that you are looking for #4 (the L word).
It is hidden in line one!
