He was sent down to see the Prefect.
He didn't know what to expect.
It could be a prize
For his beautiful eyes,
Or it could be another reject!

Happy December, Owen!
Thank you for starting us off with that sweet limerick.

Today’s Jumble haiku:
(All is change. This becomes that.
Things don’t stay as they seem.
As in the Hindi word…)

Ver-Rision

The stereo belts
fierce sounds. Larva morphs to bugs.
Pinch some punch for me.

Or, here’s a tighter tale—with disguises.
(Imagine Santa about to make his exit after depositing gifts.
He is occasionally spotted at fireplaces and mustn’t be seen performing his magic departures…)

“Don’t stare!” he orders.
A fierce polar vault propels
him up, in chimneys.

SPOILER ALERT

Sorry for the separate post, but I keep being removed when I comment along with my Wordle post.
“Hard one today. I moved from filling the gas tank to voting, before I was removed forcibly”

StereoVision

Watch with wonder
As the larva expands up-
Inching towards the pupa stage.
A fierce ejection from the womb,
And a butterfly is born!

Owen- nice start to our day with your Wordle verse

OMK- your first verse follows my scientific bent.
The second has hidden the J words well (I loved the 3 word spread for the P and S words, 2 for the L).

WC- FLN- I spotted three of today’s J words, and now I see your disguise for the L word. (I echo OMK re Mauna Loa).

"Jumble Jungle"

This morning I made a decision:
this Jumble needs a revision.
For "larva" I found no rhyme,
even though my efforts were fierce.
And though "stereo" is more in line,
it rarely a verse does pierce.
So I've decided not to flinch
and gave the Jumble a well-deserved pinch.

Fln, re. C&L...
I hope you don't think Lois was ragging on Chet too fiercely. She was trying to make the new guy know that even the oldtimers(Lois has five years) know that they were once unkempt too

Owen, fun to have you begin our month with your double rabbit, thank you for that, followed by your delightful limerick! You've gotten our blog month off to a great start!

Then a second month beginning from Ol' Man Keith, followed by a delightful haiku with all the Jumble words cleverly worked in. Thank you for that second great lead-in to our month!

And then came your amazing entry into the little critter's fertile body, producing a new generation, CanadianEh!--a total surprise and delight. Thank you for that treat as well.

Wilbur, did you add a Lois and Chet verse last night? I'll need to check.

Looked at your posting yesterday, Wilbur, and it looks as though Chet's and Lois's discussions with Lee about their partners are both kind with a little edge to them. Very clever and interesting.

CanadianEh! ~ You are an excellent decoder. I figured the 2nd verse wouldn't be that easy to decipher. Probably impossible if you didn't know to look! You got all three I tucked away.

Your own piece offers a fine encapsulation of a natural miracle of insect life.
Ah, but you are a wily one--sticking the S word in your title. That was the toughest, and hardest for me to encrypt.

Misty ~ You were also sly, placing the same word in quotes and commenting directly on its difficulty (making me even prouder of my sneaky ways!).
And yes, I agree that "larva" is tough to rhyme. I was tempted (but resisted in the end) to somehow connect it to the eruption of "Mauner Loa-er"...

Not to worry, WC ~ I think we all understood what Lois intended.

But if Chet needs to make a similar point, he should come into possession of old photos or--better yet--video (!) of Lois from her own less-than-kempt days...
I can almost see her: Lois-the-Floozie,
"How 'bout a drink, Mister?"

Here's some of the back story on Lois

Monday, 7/5/21
Fluid, Blurt,Fennel,Lizard;
Filled the bill
---------
[Yes, Lois has a story, too]

"Not opposed to the fourth step?" Lois blurted out,
"When presented with the Program I had my doubts
Firstly, I not only drank but smoked, and I don't mean fennel
And as for imbibing fluids , vodka was king but gin would fill the bill"

"Relationships? I had none, unless you count those lounge lizards
One way wonders , no accounts and certainly not wizards"

Wilbur Charles said...

Here's more

Chet and Lois are back at her place, she confides]
"It's nice here", said Chet, I thank you for inviting me indoors"
"I'm guessing Chet that you see me as laid back and demure
Oddly the opposite was true, pre AA, life was very different then
I rode with a motorcycle gang known as outlaws way back when
We looked down on you sober folk we lived a life apart
Backwards thinking was my mien, which was horse which was cart."

Lois is digging deep
.
Sunday 7/11/21
Should,Bigger,Rotary,Iodine, Hymnal,Equate;
Here goes nothing
----------
[Lois is comfortable telling Chet everything]
"I am not now what I was then, hardly a candidate for the Rotary
I carried no hymnal in my purse - talk of God made me contrary
I should have addressed my problem years ago but I was in denial
I drank anything short of iodine, I sipped vodka from a hip vial

My problems just got bigger but my defect equated to, procrastination
I'd heard of the program, could it help? Could it really bring cessation?
And those people at the meeting might find me disgusting
But under the lash of alcohol I came to the halls. 'Oh well, here goes nothing'".

Wilbur Charles said...

One last one

"What you see before you is not the person who arrived at the halls
Though less than 30 years old I'd suffered the worst of life's many pitfalls
Drink took me quick, I hung at the clubs and hooked up with the lead guitarist
I later dumped him and found a biker who preferred to talk with his fists
With rings in my ears and navel I finally ended up in rehab
When I left the place I felt exposed but decided to give AA a stab.

Misty- you came up against words that were hard to rhyme, and created your poem to rail about them. I love it! You just gave that Jumble a pinch. Hopefully they will shape up and give you better words tomorrow.

OMK- yes, my eagle eye found your words. I should have been part of the Enigma project!

WC- thanks for the background info on Lois. She has come a long way.

Wilbur ~ All good stuff.
Yep, I THOUGHT I recalled Lois had a lot going for her (or against) in the past.
You have a lot of sharp rhymes going for you in this collection. And I really appreciate what you do with the horse & cart!
