Today’s Jumble haiku:
(The swimmer thought he could beat his way past the foaming eddy. Unfortunately, his weakened limbs could not resist the powerful waters. Rather than fight the downward whirl, he found a strange peace in yielding.
All his life he had been a proud Alpha athlete, but …)

Dearly confounded,
he’d a sense this vortex would
be his Omega.

I am wrapped up in Spanish plains
It's mainly there where fall the rains.
I, most sanely,
Avoid them mainly,
My arthritis, when it rains, it pains.

He had sacrificed dearly for years, but it was done ,
His Omega weapon, the Vortex Ray Gun!
It would project out a vortex psychic beam
That would disable any soldiers on the opposite team!

It would soon get a test on a real battle field
A skirmish had erupted, out the weapon was wheeled.
No sense in waiting for a battery of tests.
Let's see this weapon do what it does best!

But whoa, what is this? The foe has the like!
A vortex beam of their own in this fight!
Both new beams were turned on, what a sight!
They aimed at each other, thru eve into night!

One vortex turned left, the other turned right.
They canceled each other, left the soldiers to fight!

My apologies, Wilbur!
You had posted two identical W-graphs, showing your victory in just three tries.
I erased one of them, to reduce the clutter.
But both disappeared!

Moove Along 2022

Man, leave this year behind eh!
In Greek it makes sense
That this is the annual omega day,
New Year’s Eve, a dearly loved time to commence
To celebrate the old and welcome the new.
Text or phone your greetings at midnight.

Keith, you erased one? I erased one. We must done it simultaneously!

OMK- I like the direction that you went with the J words, emphasizing the V and O words. Loved your title.
Re Wordle- I believe you started with the vowel-rich word, but am still trying to guess your second word.

Owen- Add an I and start with Eliza’s tongue-twister, and you have created a wonderful offering today from the W. Then, you centre on the V word for a brilliant sci-fi poem. Your craftsmanship is amazing.

Happy New Year all!

C&L encountered one of today's J's

[Nora is asking the couple about the coming wedding]
"Lois, darling, tell me about your ideas about marrying and the honeymoon
Back in the foyer I mentioned that five digit figure that can be fine-tuned
Earlier I heard your Canadian friend float the idea of a yacht to Aruba"
[Lois responds]
"That's the alpha and omega of our hopes, snorkeling near Cuba "
[Charles chimes in]
"That's a splendid idea and I'm wired in at the Rotary club in town
There's nothing hotter than relaxing on the beach near old Kingstown
Our annual meeting and banquet takes place in a couple of weeks
With the connections I have you'll surely have the honeymoon you seek

"Last 2022 Jumble"

The words today made little sense:
"omega" and "vortex" were especially dense.
I dearly want this day to end cheerily
since at the end of the year we are--nearly.

So I wish you all a good New Year's Eve,
and hope we all cheerfully this year leave.

CanadianEh! said...

WC- I hope those honeymoon plans work out well

Misty- what a novel way to use those unassociated J words! Your desire for this day to end cheerily, and that we would all leave this year cheerily, is admirable. Happy New Year.

Yes, I thought that might have been the case, Owen. It's a good thing Wilbur kept a backup. I see he has re-posted it.

Your pieces today were especially strong. The first strikes a tone and message famiiar to most of us over... sixty? Seventy-five? Eigh- Oh, hell, wherever the needle has landed for YOU!

The second, longer piece encapsulates one entire wing of the military strategic & diplomatic thinking behind MAD, "Mutually Assured Destruction."
While your Vortex Guns do not assure complete destruction (as the "nuclear option" might), they effectively cancel each other out, thus meeting the standard for combat idiocy.

Yuppers, Misty!
I, for one, will cheerfully this year leave.

I remember happily 2022 in the first place reaching.
How sad it has been through this year living.

My only regret may be needing to trade the neat number "22" for the oddball "23" at the end of the year's date. There was always something comforting (didn't others feel that?) in dating letters and checks with that supremely balanced itemization of twos--"Two-o-two, two."

CEh! ~ It looks like you and I started W with the same handicap. Were you using my old fave, ADIEU?
Then we shared a lucky leap in our second tier--nailing that final letter--a most fortunate guess.
You were wondering about my 2nd word. I guess my fn. wasn't a sufficient clue.
Try completing this expression and then adding our mutual final letter: "And the lion shall lie down with the ____."

It can also serve as the first word in a term of endearment:
"My little ____-Pie!"

Got it? You can see that in some ways it is an adjective opposite to the final W-Word.

Your poem today offers a cool send-off to this tired old annum.
I liked your mooving title, your familiar 1st line address, combining Bruh-dude-iness with Canadian clichรฉ; and your modern assumption that only text or phone will do.

Phew, Wilbur! Glad you were able to re-post your W-gram. I felt bad, being partly responsible for your earlier disappearance.

Good job, BTW, landing that W in just 3!

Thanks for another installment in the C'n'L saga. Ol Chas seems very well-connected.
Last we heard of Chet, he was coming around to maybe enjoying himself in all these elaborate plans. But I cannot help noticing his curious absence from today's discussion.
Was that just happenstance, or should we be reading something into his invisibility?
I recognize an old tradition, one that may be at work here, that weddings are entirely for brides--grooms being merely an appendage for the ladies'--er-- convenience.

Still, I look forward to hearing from Chet.
He's one appendage that might sabotage these Wonderful Wedding Works.

OMK- I started with ASTER, a variation of the usual STARE, STEAR, that I usually use.
Thanks for clarifying your second guess fro me. The final letter was throwing me off.

LOL re the text or phone. Actually, that line is my lame inverted attempt to insert the V word today into my offering.
The first Bruh-dude line was added later when I realized that I had not included the Wordle today (as is my usual practice). It was a little out of sync with the rest, but eh, I was desperate!
