Itโs Sunday morning once again,
and Keithโs on his break, according to plan.
He wishes you well.
May your rhymes gel,
and all of your meters successfully scan!

What a perfect day it is!
The stars are gone, the sun has riz!
The birds go "Cheep",
(Ten cents apiece!),
The bees go about their buzzy biz.
'Twas o'er an Italian hillside
The hermit lived alone.
He wanted only to abide,
No company but his own.
He conversed on philosophy,
He tried his hand at art.
He sketched a wiggly willow tree,
Then labled every part.
The hilltop was a home to him,
Not dreary caves below.
He dined on cashew coq au vin,
Squash pie, when apropos.
Asked why a hilltop, by one who ventured nigh,
He said he always wanted to set his cites so high.
Oops. That last line should be sites, not cites!
Thank you for filling in on a Sunday, Ol' Man Keith.
And your hillside verse is brilliant, Owen, and tough to follow.
"Hermit Wit"
The hermit constructed a kit
with italic figures in a sketch
that became quite popular quick
and a decent income did fetch.
He can now stay home and giggle,
eating cashews and squash on his nights,
and new games play that wiggle and jiggle
and set his sights on exciting new heights.

I think I got the Wordle in 3 tries! Makes for a good Sunday:

The eldest son is expected to follow in his fatherโs (and grandfatherโs) footsteps.
But he longs to:
Reset his Heights (Sigh)
Let no one squash your ambitions
Or in italics taper your goal.
The cash you earn may be great
Or you live as a hermit at soul.
You may plumb, sketch, or medicate,
Thereโs no need to follow traditions.
With wiggle-room to pursue
To your own self be true.
OMK- what a gracious verse to greet us today, even as you are on a break. FLN, I have given you a clue in my verse today.
Owen- you too have given us a pretty rhyme to meet the day. If the Wordle is in it, it is so well disguised that I canโt find it.
And your J word poem is a masterpiece. I love how you hid the I word . . . and used sites.
WooHoo Misty. Great work on the Wordle, and no hints? WC had those last two letters which left open a huge number of possibilities. (I had to LIU to find Merkleโs nickname - I knew it would be baseball related.)
Your hermit was fortunate to bring in a good income to be able to enjoy his isolation.
Oh, what a clever verse, CanadianEh!. I carefully went through it and found all the J words and solution except one. Was about to point that out to you when I looked at your verse one more time and there it was: "cash you"--"cashew"! You got it. And your verse was so positive and encouraging today. Congratulations--brilliant!
A call from Eddie, Chet's former sponsee squashed the plans
Chet had for romance with Lois that night. Dinner, perhaps a dance.
But wiggling out of his 12th Step vows was never to be Chet's way.
"Eddie, I see Mr Barleycorn doused your hopes and led you astray."
"Remember page 24 of the Big Book, especially the italics.
It sketches out quite plainly that there's no quick fix.
Whether the life of the party or a hermit in some cave
Absolute adherence to the Principles is the life you'll crave.
We all want to be the cashew in the granola bar of life
You must accept humility or be forever a common lowlife
Set your sights on the road ahead, a step at a time
The high you'll reach is winnable, the feeling sublime."

whaT A PERfect day
Owen- spread over 3 words. No wonder I missed it. Great job of disguising!
