The haiku below may not make a lot of sense. But I think you’ll find its rhythm and slang familiar enough to count as poetry.

Today’s Jumble haiku:
(As the crooks all scarpered across the loading dock, their feet raised a loud…)

”Metal[lic] Sound”

In true rodent style,
Zeke ratted out the lagoon
of thieves, [down] to their wheat!

I won’t assess your Wordle ability, but I would not be moved from my guess that sse were having a Christmas sweet.
I see WC had similar problems getting the “Phew”.

My original post was removed by the Blog Bot- I split it in two, but I see my last correct green letter didn’t get copied. Ah well, you know there are 5 green squares.
For some reason, the Bot does not like it when I comment with my Wordle solution!

Happy Boxing Day.

Of Mouse and Men

The rodent loved to settle down
In the wheat of the granary he found.
Biting open a bag (gooney he wasn’t)
Burlap, not textile,
He would not budge
(To him it was like fudge)
Heh, don’t judge.

"Made a Move"

After years of growing wheat
she had enough for a while
and decided she needed a treat
to enjoy a whole new style.

So she moved to a lagoon
where a cottage she did rent
and the move turned out a boon
except for that pesky rodent.

But she refused to frown
and just happily settled down.

Wordle 26 Dec. ‘22–St. Stephen’s Day
Par = 4
Wordle 555 2/6

⬜🟨⬜🟨🟨
🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩
My usual starter beat both of the Bot’s words.
Still, the quick answer was a happy surprise!

The Blog Bot is a beast out of control.
There, I said it.
It is an insane tyrant, wielding unchecked power over us.
I have not mentioned it before, but it often fails to change the date at midnight, even though I have posted a scheduled change. The reason given makes no sense. It says I have not met “community standards.” I must then re-enter the proper information, click on “Publish,” and then delete the old failed data.
After several such instances, I have realized the problem. In each case, when I posted the original algorithm, I made a minor typing error. I went back over it, of course, and re-entered it correctly, eliminating my mistake. But the Bot has no tolerance for correctly edited data. Oh, no.
The Bot is full of itself.

It seems to me, CanadianEh! that your problem with the Blog Bot is both worse than, and similar to mine!
Worse, because you must have to re-type much more data than me,
and
similar, in that there is probably one thing you are doing--something innocent but potentially offensive to the Bot--every time.
And the Bot is never forgiving.

It may be, as you have already noted, that you are entering a comment along with the W-gram.
But so do I, and it doesn't seem to be offended by my doing it.
Maybe it just doesn't like YOU doing it...
Or maybe there is something else you're doing. Innocent but slightly different.
It has a long memory.

On another front, I enjoyed both your and Misty's poetic entries today. I had the impression you were both writing about the same hungry little mouse!
Just from different perspectives.

Today is St Stephen's Day. The "protomartyr." The guy looked after the needy and poor. So, naturally, the better-off citizens stoned him to death.
I don't know if he had to go through all the levels of beatification required by the Vatican these days. With a Devil's Advocate and all.
It was easier to become a saint back in his age. Probably stoning was enough.

Thank you for your kind comments about our verses, Wilbur, and explaining that today is St. Stephen's Day. How sad that he was the first martyr who was stoned to death, apparently.

Hmmm. I dunno, Misty; we haven’t seen Wilbur since his W-gram in the murk of the morning.
Maybe he’ll be posting late again. We often see him after dark.

This is inspired by Misty’s Xmas Day poem.

I sincerely hesitate to call his wife
a material girl.
It’s not as if she’s styled “Yo’ Mama”
(‘cept maybe for “Mother-a’-pearl”).
But I see she preferred a Chevy
over her poor kitty cat.
Say, what became of that feline?
Hmm. Better not ask about that…

This year, “He” got off easy, shelling out for merely a tire.
But it shows he’s good for the upkeep, for whatever may transpire
with that car. Hubby’s just gaga for the dame,
good for a brake job, and…? Even if the heap’s gone lame
he’ll cover the jab, and pay for a cab
while her car’s in the shop running a tab.

But however we wanna be judgy
about her gouging the guy,
the deal seems to work for them.
Who wants to kill it? Not I.

Maybe the car serves both,
and she’s gotta do all the driving,
racking up miles behind that ol’ wheel.
It may be how they keep thriving…

Did anyone pause to think of that?
And how far could they get—on a cat?

Sorry, Ol' Man Keith, have enjoyed a very busy and wonderful day with family on their post-Christmas visit, with no time to return to the blog until now. I'll try to check in tomorrow morning, but just want to wish you all a lovely evening, and thanks for understanding.

Good for you, Misty, having enough energy to carry on further with family over the 26th! Our peak was yesterday, and both my wife & I had barely enough strength left over to write notes+Thank Yous and to chew our way through leftovers….
Thanks for the lovely wishes, and the same in return.
