Todayโs Jumble haiku:
(You have to be cocky, really sure of yourself, to score in the barefoot croquet tournament.
Straight from โWonderland,โ a red flag signals each time a goal is hit, green on each missโฆ)
โRed on a Goalโ
Bare-ankled he stood,
shoe-less, with gall onโenough
to emerge the champ!

Fln, OMK I used that term way, way back

Leave,Image,Levity,Coddle;
Medallic
--------
Finally the big day had arrived, Chet's one year anniversary.
Oh, he'd worked so hard for this day overcoming all adversity
Lo and behold who's handing out the medalion but Lois, herself.
The cherry on the cake. That charming and winsome elf.
The meeting went well full of levity and mirth
Chet was the image of delight savoring it for all it's worth
And then came the moment, Lois expressed encomiums galore
"Come and get your cake, Chuck!" Chet nearly hit the floor.
"So this is the thanks I get , no medallion or anything ?
What had Chuck ever done?" The thought occurred, give Sponsor John a ring.
Too angry to pause and think Chet was about to leave
That seedy bar sounds like the perfect place to bereave.
Another old timer , Neal, noticed the look on his face
"Don't say anything Neal, I've had it with this place"
"I've done everything they ask and believe me it was plenty "
Neal only said, "If you're going to get good and drunk, here's an extra twenty".
"But remember" he added "what you've heard in these halls about the disease
I don't Coddle anyone and I'm not looking to please
But before you take that long lonely walk
Why not sit down for a spell and we'll talk. "
And sure enough next week came and Chet was working harder than ever
Rome wasn't built in a day, recovery 's a lifelong endeavor
For the journey will have its ups and downs
But the rewards for sticking it out know no bounds
WC
Note, somehow Chet had changed sponsors. Probably right about now when he talks to Neal
OMK- nice work on the Wordle
I started with the vowel rich word, struggled from there with all the possibilities, until I reached the stoplight
Get Tuna Roll
He stood,
Ankle-deep in water,
A gallon pail in hand.
He emerged,
Pail filled
With amber-coloured fish.
OMK- wonderful title! And all those J words (with the G word hidden!) make a great story with your shoeless croquet player.
WC- FLN- I saw two of todayโs J words and the solution! Chetโs story is inspiring!
"Profit Hopeful"
Though her ankle was sore,
Sally stood outside the store
hoping a surge would emerge
that would rejuvenate her salon
with a profit for every gallon.
The project took a considerable toll
but Sally's business is back on a roll.
Thanking you forโฆ
A salon measuring product in gallons
and dedication higher than tibian pain.
The ingredients, Misty, it would seem
to flip Sallyโs fortunes, loss to gainโฆ
A successful J-word nexus
pays off the Jumble debt,
and another lucky outcome
is what we readers get!

Wilbur, yes, I see where you did apply that descriptive phrase to her over a year-and-a-half ago.
Thank you for re-posting five historical stanzas.
I am in awe.
Your cataloging skill is truly remarkable, in great contrast to my own slipshod storage.
I donโt know why the image of Lois I have planted in my mind is not so elfin as tall & sturdy.
It must be a personal reference, but to whom I canโt locate.

Thanks, CanadianEh! Your warm words are appreciated.
I can see how your W hunt began with the same two as I did,
just that I was luckier in narrowing letters 2+3.
Hah! Your โtuna rollโ title is a hoot!
Your poem gives a clear image of a shallow-trapping fisherman.
I donโt know much about such a method of filling oneโs pail. My only recollection is of a mollusk-farming guy in Virginia Beach who could wade into 6 inches of tidal or river water and gather a dozen oysters in an afternoon.
Whatever your guy filled his pail with, it probably wasnโt tuna.

O' Man Keith, I enjoyed your fun Jumble and thought, 'delightful, but no Jumble words.'
Then, just now, just to make sure, I looked at it more carefully again, and there they were-- all of them! I just can't believe how cleverly you manage to conceal them, yet keep them all there.
Wow! Wilbur, an amazing production this morning, five stanzas with aabbcc and aabb rhyming, and a complicated narrative and theme built in. Terrific--thank you so much!
Yours went in the opposite direction, CanadianEh!-- terse and compact and trim: and yet there they were too, all of the J's and title, very clever. And in addition, a cool Wordle!
Great blog Jumble morning!
Misty- this Canadian would have preferred litres to gallons today, but we have to work with what we are given. I hope Sallyโs salon continues to be profitable. I loved the inner rhyming with โsurge would emergeโ!
Iโm glad you and OMK liked my title. It was quite crazy, but I never know what my brain is going to see in the Jumble solution. I too am sure that there was no tuna in my waderโs pail, but again, I had to go with what I was given. Letโs call it poetic licence.
Although I could add colorful signal flags--in colors the reverse of what might be expected--there's no way I could compete with Lewis Carroll's imagination.
His croquet game uses flamingos for the mallets and hedgehogs for the balls!
Now, that's major league creativity--ingenious genius.

Misty, the latest C&L was posted last night(8 J's, 2 riddle-solutions
Both C and L were estranged from their families. Now that there's a big wedding coming it'll be interesting how they handle it.
Lois will probably get Nora involved. I wonder if Chet will try to use Charles S go-between
