Mortimer Bull-Moose was a moose in a hurry.
He had his eye on cow Clara, very curvy!
Rutting season was at hoof, it was vital to prepare,
To stomp out a rut pit for his moose-lady fair!

He'd staked out a meadow for challenger fights,
If youngsters disputed, he'd set them to rights!
His huge antlers would hobble him in any thick woods,
But out in the open they'd do the most good!

He'd had to write a poem, to express his muse
(I'll share it with you here, translated from moose:)
"Red is for berries, green leaves we consume.
Your legs are so hairy, your dewlap's va-va-voom!"

It's wonderful how every day you rise to the challenge of fitting all those diverse words into a poem. This one especially, and I love Mortimer's poem to Clara.

The jumble clues were Wednesday medium;took a little thought. The solution pun really tickled my fancy; I had to laugh at the silly mental picture it created for me.

I had trouble with#3 . So I went to the Xword . I should have taken another crack at it. That five letter word should have been obvious
