|| bulgy, sandy, hangar, zinnia, railing. || quiver, peanut, nearly, afraid, radial, theory, rain on their parade.
The opening poem contains all the words (or variations of them) from today's Jumble.

A spaceship was supposed to be needle sleek.
This one was bulgy, useful but not sweet.
It was designed to haul cargo upstairs.
As long as it works, how it looks, who cares?
Rolling out of its hangar to the sandy ground
The model Z lifter looked distressingly round.
But forty-five seconds away from the pad,
It would not matter what odd shape it had.
The launch tower stood ready to fling it aloft,
While at the top railing leaned, with arms crossed,
An android who felt everyone deserved an insignia.
She painted on the Z's nose, a colorful zinnia!
[Warning, UNTAPE is not one of the words today!]
Gladstone, the inventor, hoped he was on a streak.
A parade of gadgets cleared his workbench last week.
Now, his latest brain storm was almost nearly done.
A triple-threat umbrella, a taser, plus laser gun!
The taser zapped at contact, for attackers near.
The laser was a sniper, to keep them distant in fear.
And furled it made a rapier to force a retreat
By foes all afraid, who'd run with quivering feet!
Gladstone's brain was no peanut, he'd thought it thru.
The radial structure of umbrella ribs kept targeting true.
And there was even a bonus, a theory to try --
It could ward off the rain, to keep the user dry!
What a delightful St. Patrick's Day Jumble. I looked at the picture and at the circles of the solution, and for the first time ever, I got the solution without having solved any of the words yet. I then went back and put in the words but had to come to Owen's poem to get the third word--and there it was--many thanks, Owen. Complicated Jumble picture--I wish I could see all those tiny figures in the background better to get a fix on all their Patrick's Day games. Lots of fun.
Have a good one, everybody.
Enjoyed both poems today. Kind of tired, so no specific comments.
J4 was a problem only because I read the second clue wrong and had a bad letter for the solution. Once that was ok, no problems.
As Misty said, the J6 solution popped right out with no need for the clues. I think the constructors were making it easy for the holiday. The clues were solvable, though. I was not led astray by untape!
