Jumble: I had unexpected trouble with the first clue word, and felt like an idiot when I worked back from the solution to realize what it was. D'oh!
Never had conch soup. Like the pun.
Fun poem this morning, Owen--many thanks. Perfect for a perfect Monday Jumble. I had problems only with the second clue, and went on to get the solution without it, and that in turn helped me to get the missing critter. Delightful cartoon drawing, David and Jeff, always enjoy your details. Actually, this cartoon makes me hungry, but it's still a way from lunch time.

Owen, do you just know that about those critters or did you research them all? I had only heard of the ring-tailed ones and had the devil of a time getting it knowing mulers wasn't right. It took your poem and a slap on the head to realize it. The last three words almost filled themselves and it took some time to come up with, oh, the meaning of conch!
Otherwise, this was fun! I've never had conch soup but it sounds good.
It was strange to have more trouble with the fives than sixes .The latter I got quickly.
I just had to think, what's a conch? And the solution popped.
Owen seized the lemur by the tail in his poem . And from the CC we know APES don't have'em
