|| suede, leave, enough, candid, (a) novel idea. || bounty, modest, unsure, impala, visual, shrimp, ramp up his business.
The opening poem contains all the words (or variations of them) from today's Jumble.

Do you remember Allen Funt, the host of Candid Camera?
A hidden camera T.V. show that helped define an era.
Thanks to cell-phone cams today, and the Internet,
Such shows are everywhere, the whole world as their set!
This was Funt's novel idea back in nineteen-forty-eight.
But it spawned Survivor, and a whole genera to hate!
Now we have Big Brother ("You borrowed my suede coat!")
And Carbonaro's magic ("That rabbit was just a goat!")
They couldn't leave well enough alone, it's gotten out of hand.
It's called Reality T.V. It's as real as any Kardashian!
The ghost of Allen Funt may be laughing in his grave.
He tried to give the world a gift -- The Bachelorette is what he gave!
Doctor Moreau is at it again with animal chimera!
He's hybridized more beasts than Elon has sold Teslas!
Doctor M. thinks he's Noah, with a ramp up to his Ark.
He's made an evil business of strange life he's given spark!
Modesty is not his wont. Lesser men may be unsure.
But Doctor M. goes right ahead, he thinks his motives pure!
He crossed a fleet impala with a breed of jumbo shrimp.
It's short, but with ten legs it moves faster than a blink!
He courts black market investors, to sell his Sussian creations.
He brings some visual aids to 'add life' to his presentations.
The mermaid is exquisite from her tiara to her tuna tail.
Ugly Medusa snakes stand guard, one can hear intrudes wail!
Woohoo! This was a Jumble toughie with 6 words and a long four word solution. I got some of the words but needed support, and Owen's poem was not only clever and fun but also very helpful. Once I got all seventeen letters, the cartoon solution jumped right out at me! Great start to a Sunday morning--many thanks, Owen.
I agree with Misty -- the j6 was not easy. I got all the clues but went off on a dead end with a couple of solution words. That led to a very bumpy ride, which finally took me to your poem for help. And once I saw a helpful word, the rest was simple. Not sure I actually see a really strong link between the solution and the cartoon, though. I looked at the other cartoon on the NOLA site, but it didn't seem all that much closer. Oh well, perceptions do differ. I did like the poem, especially the mental picture it gave me of a shrimpala!
J4 was easier, of course. And I enjoyed the solution pun. Loved the poem, not only for its cleverness, but also because I so agree with the ideas it expresses. Those shows are "as real as any Kardashian" for sure.
