The opening poem contains all the words (or variations of them) from today's Jumble.

Aunt Prue was as prim as was proper to be.
She seemed out of place in this century.
She insisted everything around her make sense,
And feared her nieces and nephews were dense!
She had a small dog, a Pomeranian breed,
Spoiled and cherished, she oft would hand-feed.
But when nieces and nephews came to tea,
A pinky extended from the teacup must be!
She brooked no input from nephew nor niece,
But allowed little Pom-Pom to bark out his piece.
Then an invasion by a tiny spider transpired,
Nephew or niece was to step on it until it expired!
A most clever re-purposing of the solution, Owen! I did the same to a bug that tried to cross my path last night.

Delightful poem to go with the Jumble words, Owen. I wondered how you were doing to make sense of that third word in your poem, but you did it very cleverly. I had no problem with this Jumble, though I did have to work a bit on the words. But the two letter solution words made the answer fall into place with no problem. Liked the US flag on the astronauts' shoulders, but can't figure out what they're holding in their hands. Fun Jumble, and my goodness, I haven't had to step on a bug in years, Ol'Man Keith.
Ok, I'm so confused, Owen. Please can you explain why the cartoon on this blog is different from the one in the LA Times paper and on several other websites that you cite? My curiosity is killing me.
The "upsetting tr*ll" I mentioned a few days ago was Mr. Knurek, who is more interested in getting paid than in fans. Any of the interactive links at right will connect to commercial sites with his cartoons. I've actually enjoyed finding other illustrations, although it often takes longer than the poems. I've also found another site that gives detailed descriptions of his drawings at https://jumbleanswer.com.

The upstage astronaut is holding a carton of Tang in his right hand. I thought that was it from the shape with a bent straw sticking up. If you blow up your screen, you can read the letters "TANG" on the box.
I have a personal memory of Tang, the orange-flavored drink reputed to be a NASA invention or discovery. My very pregnant first wife and I were at a grad school party when drinks were running low. (This was before mothers-to-be were warned against alcohol.) I offered her some cognac, but it was too strong for her to drink without a mixer. She prowled about the host's kitchen and found some Tang. She thought it a great joke to mix her fine Courvoisier with downscale Tang.
We left the party at midnight and it was at 4 am that she went into labor with our first son.
We still kid him that he is our "Tang baby."

So, Owen, the troll was Mr. Knurek, whom you encountered on Facebook. His are the cartoons that appear in newspapers and on other sites. And you are purposely searching out different cartoon pictures because of him? Do I have it right?
I'm guessing that Misty does the Jumble from the newspaper version, and that OMK and I have been doing it from this blog. So we see the astronaut with a carton of Tang, while Misty and Lucina see both astronauts holding their helmets.
Now it's less confusing.
Sandy's right!
I hadn't compared the online and print versions until now. Not only are the cartoons different but so is the dialogue/wording within the frame.
Only the caption preceding the solution is the same.
What I still don't understand is how there can be two such apt cartoons on the same subject--as there are today.

Ol'Man Keith, I loved your Tang story! And Sandyanon, thank you for clearing up the problem with the cartoon. Helps to know they are different, but how strange.
