Had a little problem with clue two, but getting the rather clever solution showed me the way.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!!!!!!

Thank you, Sandy!

RABBIT -- LEPUS x MMXXI
Let's salute the New Year
As a semi-Spooner...

"Frazzled Hare '21"
IT's not just fluff, or off the cuff,
or a rhino charging forward--
it may be rough, but it's enough
for the damage to go down hard.

It's a TALE to tell of a year of HELL
(Oh, there's plenty to say about '20),
but let it suffice to be nicer than nice:
Pray its string of heavies ain't steady.

C'mon, Everyone!--it's time for some fun:
Let's wish 2021 its turn in the sun!

Report on the online Jumbles:
- Shockwave is still majorly messed up, as I reported last night.
- Jumble home page now redirects to the Chi.Trib. site.
- USAToday has a glitch, but much milder: After all clue words are correctly filled it won't continue to the solution.
- The ChiTrib now lists 2 Daily Jumble puzzles: one in color, which is the same as the USAToday, and only on computers, not phones; and a black&white one, which is unavailable on computers, but only for phones. I don't know which version a tablet will run. They're both the same puzzle anyway.

Thanks, Owen, for the thorough research & report. And thanks too for rescuing us with a timely posting last night.
May the new year be good to you!
And may it bring greater popularity and participation to your site.

Happy New Year, everyone. Let's hope for a healthier and happier 2021, though with gratitude for our blessings in 2020 as well.

"Puff the Magic Pup"

Puff is a sweet dog with fluff
who is never gruff or rough.
He's quite small, not a bit like a rhino
and very unlikely to grow more.
He never does any damage
and is very easy to manage.
With his leash, like a string,
he walks like a king.
Not only do I care for him,
I have a total flair for him.

In calling the dog Puff, Misty, you reminded me of the old Dick and Jane readers. But that pup was called Spot. It was the kitten that was named Puff. And its name was originally Little Mew. A strange train of thought connections...
Anyway, your verse is charming. I can see Puff strutting regally on his string!

Well, of course I thought of making Puff a magic dragon who lived by the sea, but he would have had even less chance of contact with a rhino than my little dog. Sad that I never read the Dick and Jane series to meet their Puff kitten (Little Mew is cute). Your comments are always a delight and informative, Ol' Man --many thanks.

I had the Dick & Jane books in the 1st and 2nd grades at St. Vincent's (San Francisco).
They had a younger sister too, She was first just Baby and then Sally. I related, as we had three kids in my family.
Spot was a cocker spaniel. (I had a dog at home, a mutt called "Crackers.")
They had a Teddy Bear called Tim, I believe.

We're all having memories of families and pets at this time of the New Year, I've noticed in all my conversations with friends today. Did you go to a Catholic school in San Francisco? I went to Sacred Heart School and Lancaster Catholic High in Lancaster, PA. Well, this is a good time to revisit our past for the happy memories, not the sad ones.

So I again wish you a wonderful 2021, Ol'Man Keith. What a good "virtual" friend you've become at this stage of my life. One of these days we'll have to figure out how to meet in person. Cheers, and again, have a wonderful 2021.

And you too, Wilbur, Owen, and Sandy.
