The court was inclined to agree
to support the defendant's plea.
His origin was unique
so they gave him time to speak.
They were not inclined to coddle
but the case might be a role model.
But the defendant's argument sucked
about how the mob did him induct.
That sounded pretty glib
and they decided it was a fib.
So they sentenced him to jail
and he has not gotten any bail.
You’re on the right track, Wilbur. But be sure to distinguish between a painter and a pointer.
GOTTEN is one of my least favorite English words. There is no usage or tense for it that doesn’t work better with plain “Got.”
Your defendant can’t complain, Misty; the court showed him every courtesy—making allowance for his origin and wanting his model case to play out.
Your poem traces these steps clearly. Too bad for him that he lost, but with our legal system, he can look forward to year after year of appeals.

I cant wait for the big day, and the honeymoon will be unique
But so is Chester, I'd marry him and honeymoon in Dubuque
He doesn't coddle me even after my fibula strain

But I can't quite tell if her idea of a "honeymoon in Dubuque" is where she believes they will actually go--

OMK, great verse once again, many thanks. I had to look up Braque--never heard of that word. Turns out it's a French hunting dog described as "social, obedient, athletic"--sounds like a great Pup!
