Chet catches up to Lois]
"The big wedding idea feels like wading through muddy water"
"Oh, Chet" Lois exclaimed, "Nora says I'm like her long lost daughter
Aren't you thrilled? All the gentry will come from every corner
And get this! Remember Holly? She's to be my maid of honor"
Later it was alleged that Chet nearly fainted when he heard this news
Not that he was greedy but all agreed later he was thoroughly bemused
But his 12 Step Program had taught him 'Easy does it, Pause and Pray"
Interrupted by Lois: "Semi - casual will be the theme. Wear your beret".

I forgot to do wordle before coming here
If I read you correctly, Wilbur, Chet is surprised to find that Lois is more accepting of a large wedding than he is.
Not only that, but she is positively delighted at the scale—and for the numerous participants & attendees!
It turns out to be her thrill at the news that wins him over to it. What an amusingly convenient outcome for all!

Now, Sir Reele was considered one of the gentry,
Even tho his purse and pocket generally were empty.
He agreed with the friars on the sinfulness of greed,
And asked no more of any fees, beyond his current need.
Once traveling in France, he was asked to judge a brawl.
One Frenchman alleged another was in defiance of the law!
He said the other had stole his hat, and got it muddy,
Which much decreased its value from chapeau to just cruddy!
Sir Reele much remembered old King Solomon's decree.
"Slice it in half, and I'll take the plume as my fee."
To a haberdasher, who in attendance was that day,
Each litigant applied, the sew his half to a beret!
Each Frenchman was happy with his jaunty new hat.
And Sir Reele's wisdom was exalted after that!
Owen, between here and CC you are indeed at the top of your game.
I liked your take on "Oh the humanity!". Took me a sec.
OMK, yep Chet was sure Lois would be AGASP and on the contrary is thrilled
As you might recall Chet had those khaki pants but I don't recall him sporting a beret.
I hear it's a bright blue one. Perhaps he'll wear a blue blazer and white pants at the altar.
That was my attire but I never thought of the beret

"Good Rich Kid"
Greg was a gentry wearing a beret
with plenty of cash
that could for everything pay.
His father did allege
that he must go to college,
where his shoes were never muddy
and he worked hard to study.
Greg was generous and never greedy
and always helped the needy,
with box lunches he did them feed.
Yes, he was a good guy, they all agreed.
And nice to see Owen & Misty well represented this a.m., one by Sir Reele & t’other by young Greg.
We get to witness the birth of the beret and an example of lunchtime noblesse oblige!

Hilarious poem, Owen--a delight that made me laugh.
Loved the title of your verse, Ol' Man Keith--took me a minute to get it, and then, oh, the solution!
Wilbur, "later it was alleged"? Does that mean that they actually did it? That it's done, and they did it? Woohoo!
We miss you, CanadianEh!. Hope you're having a good day.
Misty, let's not get ahead of ourselves. Chet was bemused, , as OMK alluded, , because Lois was so happy at the startling news and that her archenemy, , Holly, , was now her be she friend..
Sobriety the AA way does wonders
But they've a ways to go.
