Good for you, WC, but sorry to see you missed out on my hints.
Looks like you bogey’d it to me.

Hints: Starts with a V; used in communication; three vowels.

”Err-Soundings”

That fussy bongo
beat left the dancers unsure
and, sadly, adrift.

"Great Gift"

After spending many years adrift
Gary finally got an important gift
when a guy who had been a long-time chum
got him a job playing a bongo drum.

For so long his future was unsure
but Gary at last now feels secure.
He is not fussy about his surroundings
and enjoys his band's nightly soundings.

His spirits are thankful for this gift
which gave his life an important lift.

I’m sure your Gary—both grateful AND talented—must be a better drummer than my bongo-ist.
Misty, your poem gives us a positive spin, something readers may well appreciate after my bit of what-the-hell dancing!

But I admit I am kinda proud of that lil’ piece.
Especially the quasi-Spoonerism title, which tries a twist on the solution, but I believe is appropriate for the brief tale to follow.

Loved the title of your haiku this morning, Ol' Man Keith, and also your what-the hell spirit. So you should be proud of this offering.

And thanks for your hint for the Wordle which was a big help, although it still took me more than one try:

Following up on Wilbur's golf reference, I think "par" for those who take the hints should be set at two strokes.
While rare, I think it is not all that difficult to get the answer in one try, one under par, for a birdie.
Three attempts--one over par--counts as a bogey.

To be fair to Wilbur, since he apparently missed the hints, he deserves a different handicap.
Or we can re-imagine par for him--at, say, four strokes. With today's three, he gets to have his birdie!

Unsure of his surroundings
On the deserted isle
After being set adrift,
He decided not to be fussy
Took up his bongo drums
And lent his voice to the evensong of the birds.

Lovely, delicate verse about a man on a deserted isle who "lent his voice to the evensong of birds." Lovely, CanadianEh!", many thanks.

No hints for Wordle used by me. Funniest thing, I did Wordle again on my phone instead of my iPad and had forgotten the word. I started with the French vowel-rich word and still took 5 tries!!

Thanks Misty. I enjoyed OMK’s haiku and your Great Gift.

Enjoyed your poem, CanadianEh!. Glad you liked my haiku.

You reminded me of the time...oh, about 70 years ago, back in the '50s, when I tried my hand at the bongos.
All my friends were doing it. I managed to get one particular rhythm down. Truly, down.
And I can tell you: No birds sang in San Francisco while I played.
