The opening poem contains all the words (or variations of them) from today's Jumble.
Comments are welcomed! And couching them in Poetry is definitely NOT required.
Do not explicitly reveal any of the actual answer words until after closing time, but embedding them surreptitiously in comment sentences is encouraged.

FLN: Ah, yes, Math, CanadianEh!
I felt the same as your student. Luckily, in both grade school & university, I was able to minimize my time with the numbers.
Only recently have I come to regret my lack of mathematics, an entire hunk of life’s experience forever lost to me. I now appreciate the beauty of certain maths, even though I can’t “do them.”
I have tried to return to the subject via calculus, but lack the foundation for it.

I think advanced & abstract maths are like foreign languages. Our brains are open to learning them in just an early window of years. If we miss it, we’re out of luck.

FLN: Good job, Wilbur, esp. working hintless.
You’re certainly right, your “solving” is luck—plus decoding. Largely luck.
But with hints, you have an aim, a challenge to guide you.

As for your latest poem, I gather that no one who has an eye on the Chet/Lois nuptial is either mean-spirited or conspiratorial. All want to see a wedding that pleases the principals and as many others as is feasible.
So it looks like some negotiations lie ahead!

Back to Wordle.
Here is today’s Hint (the same that directed me): It has only one vowel; is a noun, verb, & adjective; can be a steep cliff or embankment, one created by water erosion
Par = 4

Oh, an albatross? Really?

Today’s haiku tells of a Tom Cruise-type actor who liked to do his own stunts.

Reposting FLN "Granted, you're simplifying things, Neal, but that's it in a nutshell"
"Chet, your tendency is to exaggerate as if in the death knell
And.. let's not find fault. Neither Nora nor Charles conspired
To leave you standing out with no say. This news as I see it is not dire

Plus, time is on your side. You have your studio, your work and the key?
A loving bride to work along side and a chance for Harmony

"Opportunity"

Receiving a generous grant
gave Sue's art a whole new slant.
She could open a larger studio
and hire assistants as a trio.
The work has been very demanding,
not her fault, and considered outstanding.
Yes, her tendon is now quite sore,
but her artwork gets praise galore.

(tough words to work into a rhyming story)

Woohoo! Got the Wordle on the third try! Woohoo!

Good for you, Misty-Gal! Another birdie on a tougher Wordle.
And your poem pulls all the J-words together, solidly packed in a well-rhymed octet.
I am not sure how Sue’s ligaments get damaged making art, but I get the impression she throws herself, body & soul, into her creations!
Good for her—and you!

Let me add, WC, your latest stanza lives up to your best output—fresh sounding couplets in French (long) lines.

I am fortunate to work with such brilliant colleagues.

Let me try guessing your penultimate Wordle stabs.
Misty, yours was probably BLUNT. But BLUSH is possible.

Your candidates are tougher, Wilbur, as there were many—before your old poker player luck kicked in.
FLUKE or FLUTE? Er…FLUSH maybe (thinking of your hand).

Did I FLUNK?

Misty said...

I think I first went with BLUNT, OMK. I should start writing my early efforts down, so I can remember them better. And, of course, you never FLUNK, OMK, you are always brilliant!
Also, hope your GRANT survived his plane crash.

Wilbur, happy not to get any bad Chet and Lois news today, and I liked the way you rhymed your update.

Brilliant, shmilliant....
But according to the yellow spot on your diagram, M, your first word could not have started with a B.
The three greens on your 2nd try had to be for BLU**, so that's why I placed BLUNT there.

I hope GRANT jumped clear, but we are still waiting on reports from the crash site.
(Word was Mr. Denton was fed up with Hollywood & planned to quit movies after this one.
He even told his family he meant to resume his original name. He felt drawn to it.)

You're right, OMK, I now think my first word started with the letter U but I have no idea what it was. I know I was trying to find a word with only one vowel but couldn't do it and maybe tried a word like UGLY--no, because the L would have worked in that one too. As I say, I'll try to start keeping track of my efforts from now on (she says, but will she, on her busy and disorganized mornings?).

Keep us posted on GRANT. And I hope we'll (you?) learn his real name.

Ol' Man Keith said...

Well, as you know, his real name was Grant TENDON.
His agent talked him into changing it, and for a while he weighed SINEW. Seriously.
But the agent feared he’d be confused with Gary SINISE, so that was out.

No, not a easy one, CEh!
