FLN, Wilbur ~ Any responses to my questions re. your Wordle 399 yesterday?

Nice work on your hint-free job today. Was your first letter on level 4 a T?
I count at least six other options, but I’m betting on T.

Hint: Starts with P; can mean the number of times a digit may be multiplied by itself.
Par = 2

”(Our) Family’s Roots?”

Do your utmost to oppose sport stalking,
from big game shoots to formal fox hunts.
The quarry has no voice, so you must do the talking;
insist on being heard. Make demands, do stunts!

Get the hunters to use imagination,
to rotate in their minds from pursuers to prey,
to think how it feels to be chased, sans truncation,
then petition for laws to reduce their gun play.

We no longer hunt for food; we’re evolved beyond our roots;
no need for the human family to act like brutes!

OMK, I composed a respsonse but it never posted
Yes, BEIGE was indeed my #3. The DGE combo was my only option and the odd MIDGE fortunately worked.

I put myself into a hole today because I had 3 or 4 letters but several options for the solution.

"No Family Feud"

The family worked hard to oppose
the partner that their son chose.
But the fellow did insist,
and his girlfriend lovingly kissed.
And the family's quarry did not tarry
the couple from planning to marry.

The family did this problem debate
and decided their views to rotate.
At dinner they proposed a toast
and made their welcome to her the utmost.

The wedding that followed was formal
and the family returned to normal
They plan now to celebrate her roots
with three cheers and happy hoots.

But you still managed it on your 5th try, WC, so you weren’t too far down that hole.

Glad the family came around in the end, Misty, as they gave no reason for opposing the union.
I liked your rhyming roots/hoots!
Did you mean quarry to be quarrel?
I’ve been watching Jane Austen lately, where the family’s objection still mattered. Not so much anymore.

Woohoo! I got the Wordle on my third try this morning:

Terrific verse on this Sunday, Ol' Man Keith. Love seeing you do a long verse like this, complicated with a moving story.

I had frankly no idea what to do with "quarry." Your open mine pit has no voice, and mine at least didn't keep the family from letting the couple get married. Maybe that's the best that can be done.

Wilbur, do Chet and Lois like playing Wordle?

It’s just that quarry is one of those handy words, with multiple meanings. I wasn’t sure what to do with a mine pit either, but It handed me my theme for the day.
But thank you for the compliment. I often find haiku the greater challenge, so that is what attracts me.

I was on the wrong track on 3 and 4. Then I remembered Wordle's trick about multiple use of a letter (until eliminated)

I fully expected #4 to be right
