On the chance that these are the final days for this site, I posted a valedictory to Owen toward the end of yesterday’s messages.
I invite others to add their thoughts for him to read.
I know we are all grateful for the artistry and the great many hours he has devoted to keeping these beautiful pages alive for so very long.

The elder upheld the family honor
by making the cad a castrato.

Dear Owen,
Your creation of this site has been an amazing and wonderful gift for our small family here.
I love waking up every morning, reading the paper, then doing the Jumble and creating a verse out of the words, and then sharing that with my Jumble friends and seeing their offerings. To be able to have a lively social exchange like that at the start of the day has been an amazing gift, and I only wish we could figure out a way to continue to keep it going. But we will always treasure your kindness, particularly when you are, and were, not well yourself and had your own concerns to deal with. Thank you for the courage and generosity you've modeled for us here. Please take good care of yourself and know that you are and will be in our hearts.

"Grandmother"
She was a wonderful lady,
kind and lovely, at eighty.
Her hair was still light auburn,
and she gave us much to learn.
She was modest and she upheld
principles that us compelled.
And so we offer her this sketch of praise
as a toast of love to her we raise.
I join in praise of your lovely lady, Misty, no doubt a person to be appreciated for her integrity as well as graciousness.

I have a probably silly question. But do those of us on Jumble all get the "Jumble" "scrambled word game" by Hoyt and Knurek in our morning newspaper?
If so, could we give each other our e-mail addresses, and select a title like "Jumble Group." Then every morning we could send our comments, and Wordles, and verses, and whatever else, to the list of e-mails of our group?
I realize this would work only if each of us--Ol' Man Keith, Wilbur, CanadianEh!, Sandyanon, myself, and Owen, as well as anyone else who checks in or wants to join us, gets the Jumble cartoon and scrambled words in the paper every morning. But if we do, is just a joint e-mail a possibility for continuing?
Any chance this would be possible?
Ok, I will go ahead and post something today.
First, I did post a brief, non-eloquent thank you to Owen immediately after OMK's post last night. And I have communicated with Owen via email previously.
Second, Misty, I believe you're making things unnecessarily difficult.
Note that Owen has placed links to additional Jumble sites on the right side of his blog. I can recommend the Chicago Tribune's two free sites, one for daily and one for Sunday. Easy to use.
And the jumbleanswer.com website further down on the right side of the blog does not have the cartoon, but does show answers for both the jumble clues and the solution. There's also a blog moderator, Angela, and some regular posters; the style's a bit different, relying heavily on puns and jokes, though poetry is sometimes involved. No need for hints, since the answers are already provided.
Anyway, you could simply bookmark those links and use them when there's no more blog from Owen.

Thanks for the idea, Misty ~ You we’re not making things difficult, but trying to help us through the impending loss of our site.
And Sandy was offering a different way to go.
Either way will require a small but maybe unpleasant adjustment in our aging lives.
