Todayโs Jumble haiku:
Sometimes a bad guy can earn more by turning himself in for the reward.
โPush (or) Foldโ*
While cloakโd, he disowns
the deed, but after (heheh),
he ainโt so choosy.

when it looks like the player is tied with the dealer,
but he may yet have to back down.
I cut back a little on the W hint. But not very much.

"New Career"
Carl walked in wearing a cloak,
which we thought was a funny joke.
But after he told us he was now a pastor
we had to stop our silly laughter.
We almost met this news with a groan
but he would not his decision disown.
He had always been choosy and bold
and he now had a new foothold.
So we wished him all the best,
and told him we considered him blessed.
Thank you for your kind Wordle hint, Ol' Man Keith--it helped a lot:

Hollyโs History
Disowned, she decided to leave home
Under the cloak of darkness.
She would not be choosy about her destination,
She just needed a foothold to a new life.
OMK- great haiku today (and title riff on the Jumble answer)!
Misty- we will wish Carl well in his new professional. Perhaps he can perform the nuptials for Chet and Lois.
Loved the way you worked a chuckle into your verse, OMK--delightful. And thank you again for all your great help this morning.
Hope Holly finds a wonderful new life in her new destination, CanadianEh!. Looking forward to the continuation of her story.
And looking forward to seeing you check in, Wilbur.
Wilbur, any chance Chet and Lois would let Carl conduct their wedding ceremony, as CanadianEh! suggests? That would bring folks from a lot of different communities together! You might look into this.
Your "history" note re. Holly, CEh! does a neat job of capturing a sad moment of her time.
It is brief, but causes at least one reader to wonder how many adolescents feel forced to make such a furtive decision.
Misty, your Carl seems to have surprised his pals with a typically bold but unusually pious choice.
Reading behind (or under) your last line, I get the sense that, while the gang may now consider him "blessed, they would still rather have him sharing in their chuckles.
My thanks to Both of You for your generous words on today's haiku.
I'll add that I consider this one to be closer in spirit to a Japanese model--to one type, at least--than I can usually manage. It includes some gear switching and head-scratching that belong to the haikai ไฟณ่ซง, or "unorthodox sort."

I am chuffed (as the Brits might say) that you had no problem with my pared-down Wordle hint. Bravo to you!
I thought I might be adding too much. I will aim to keep them simple.

I posted this at 1208 am EDT Also check Owen's post fln.
I could've had this
Wordle 469 4/6
โฌ๐จโฌ๐จโฌ
๐ฉ๐ฉ๐ฉโฌโฌ
๐ฉ๐ฉ๐ฉโฌโฌ
๐ฉ๐ฉ๐ฉ๐ฉ๐ฉ
in two but I thought I'd leave the extra vowel for a later guess and eliminate consonants instead. It was the least I could do as it's always a learning moment
My starter was my usual
WC
Misty, note that I leave obscure hints when I post late at night on wordle
CLOAK from the J was my starter as it had no E
I guessed LEAST and LEARN wanting not to waste the second E
That "left" me with the answer
Then again there's C-eh's "hint" method. When you first go to the Jumble you can check the fln first and if that doesn't help go to OMK or wait for C-eh.
I couldn't find the wordle word and had to recheck mine

Letter from Nora to Canada-eh]
Misty informs me that you have a pastor that could do the nuptials
Were certainly not choosy and willing to forgive any past travails
After all both the bride and maid of honor were practically disowned
By a parent in who's 'Get out, wench' was cloaked in an undertone
But now as you two, not to speak of the groom, gained a foothold
In a new life I hope all parties will forgive and forget if I may be so bold

DATE CHANGE NOTE.
Wilbur ~ A BIG Thank you! I did not see Owen's late message, as he posted it AFTER I last checked for the date change (after midnight). It is good to know he is in rehab now
I went ahead & changed the date for today, but PLEASE follow his request and make the change yourself tonight. I am still planning to t!ake Sunday off, so will not be checking in tonight at all.
I will probably be looking in tomorrow to enjoy whoever does new postings (Misty, no HINT from me tonight!), and if I see the date is NOT changed by then I will try to do it then. But please do not count on me to do it tonight.
THANK YOU!
~ OMK
Keith, can you recap what you do to change the date. Owen's instructions are not saved
WC
I am never sure, Wilbur. As I said above, my memoryโesp. in the very short termโis quite unreliable. I usually have to peck around for a while to get it right.
BUT I just looked at it, and I think I can help.
At the top of todayโs page, in the upper right corner, youโll see your email and the words โNew Post,โ โDesign,โ and โSign Out.โ
Click on either โNew Postโ or โDesign.โ Either one should take you to a work page where you can ignore just about everything except for the โ+New Postโ near the top of the column in the far left margin. On my iPad, this is on a high-lighted button underneath the pageโs title, ending in โAll hints are in the comments.โ
Click on that button.
You should see a page, with a line for writing at the top of all the repeatable page info. This line has the introductory word, โTitle,โ at the left.
You are to write on that line. I forgot to use Owenโs format for the date. But if you follow his example, you will type 2 Oct. 2022 on that line.
Despite my opening caveat, I believe I am giving you the right directions. Check it out by clicking on โPreviewโ on the right side of the Title page. If allโs well, click on โPublish.โ
If it hasnโt worked, I am sorry. You will need to go back to the work page and experiment with other options.
Good luck!
~ OMK
Dear Nora,
I will see if Misty has contact information for Pastor Carl. We can ask if he might be willing to conduct the wedding ceremony.
Do you and Chet have a date set?
Where the woodbine twines with the ivy vine,
There let us mingle your lips and mine.
In this arbor
Let love harbor
As we entwine mind to mind!
OMC, Wilbur hasn't followed thru, so it looks like it's up to you to start 10/2's page.
Owen, so glad you're okay, and thank you for checking in with us. Just hope someone can set up a Jumble site for us today, Sunday, October 2.
