The opening poem contains all the words (or variations of them) from today's Jumble.

Once upon a distant day, the bully at the beach
Would kick sand in the face of the nerdy geek,
Who became more manly, building up his biceps.
Fast forward to today, what a dated concept!
Today our hero Tony tackles bullies on the bytes
By punching out their tickets with his hacking might!
From his cyber hutch, he white-hats evil doers.
Malware can't infect, where he patrols Web sewers!
He's like Who, The Doctor, with his sonic tool-kit.
Solving multi-problems with his wily bits and wits!
Woe betide the black-hat who crosses in his way!
Tony they'll encounter, who'll make them rue the day!
Owen captures the spirit of our age. Today's poem is a snapshot of a classic contest--Geeks vs. bullies--in our transition from an industrial to a technological culture. Hurrah for Hi-Tech Tony as he battles Luddite Losers!
Today's jumble cartoon, showing guys swinging heavy machetes, sends me back many years--to when I was handling an equally awkward instrument. I was 8 or 9 and it was the first time I attempted to play tennis; I was encumbered by an old-fashioned wooden racquet!
I wonder: do they even make such clumsy items nowadays?

Well, I had trouble getting the fourth word in the Jumble, and decided to come to Owen's poem for help. Fun poem, but I never got my word--probably because it was capitalized, and so I just ignored it. Please don't tell my family medical guy that I'm so out of it that I couldn't get his profession--embarrassing. But, ironically, I got the solution even without the fourth word, and loved the cartoon. The color version is especially neat, showing us the snake coiled on the tree and those little monkeys in the background. And even though the guys are wearing the same outfit, they are different ages and weights, with one with hat and glasses. Cute cartoon and fun puzzle.
Glad you got to use a racket and not a machete, Ol'Man Keith.
The clues came easily, and the solution popped out almost before the clues. Enjoyed the pun.
I like the progression of the poem from 'yesteryear' to today's technology whizzes. I have never watched it, but did recently see a documentary on Doctor Who through the years, including interviews with all or most of the eleven doctors so far. Fifty years for the show, wow!
Pretty quick for me. Nice CSO to Anon-T
Very well crafted poem
