Achmed was feeling down, with nothing he had to do,
So thought he'd take a stroll, maybe buy a thing or two.
The bazaar was in full swing as he wandered down an aisle,
Seeing things beautiful and bizarre that were in style.

And then he passed one booth, oblivious to its wares,
Where a lady shopping was a magnet to his stares!
As if she felt the weight, she turned and looked his way,
And smiled at him in a manner that forever made his day!

She said her name was Faiza, and Achmed told her his.
They walked and talked together with the ease of kids.
At an ice cream bar, they ordered chocolate sundaes.
On that patio they ate, and said good-bye to sad days.

Purists will squawk at any changes,
But hockey needs scores in higher ranges.
So some changes to the format of the game,
And both scores and fan numbers will gain!

First, let each goalie have a cannon
To return pucks he catches with abandon!
In these days post women's liberation
Let females on the teams for a sensation!

Players are sidelined oft by nasty falls
From bouncing off of the ice rink walls.
So let's replace them with a boundary line!
Adding thrills in the bleachers is fine!

Delightful hockey poem--many thanks, Owen. I had trouble with the first word, and (I'm mortified to admit) with the fourth, which, given my gender, should have been perfectly obvious to me. But it's getting late and I hurried through this Jumble and didn't take much time to figure things out. But as always, a fun Jumble, with that little gal jumping up and down in joy, and how nice that her opponent gives her a kind and polite response.

I couldn't get #1 no how even with all five J's and the Riddle-Solution. Just needed a little more fiddling since I had I,G,O.

Like Misty I only do the J in my TBTimes newspaper.

Thanks for the hockey poem, Owen.

I'm getting a little worried about Ol'Man Keith. He hasn't been feeling well and didn't post in the Crossword corner or here on Jumble today. Hope he'll be okay and check in with us tomorrow.

Not a good day today.
Enjoyed both poems, especially the first one, with its appealing story. Not being very familiar with ice hockey, I wasn't altogether clear about the second one.

J4 wasn't difficult; enjoyed the clever pun.

J6 clues were fine, but the solution stumped me. Looked it up, but alas, still no lol.

Sandy: I know as much about racquetball as I do about ice hockey, but I do know it's played in an enclosed court, and players use paddles to bounce the ball off the back wall of the court. Bouncing off the walls is also an idiom for physical activity from excitement, impatience, or just an excess of energy.

I know, Owen. Just didn't really laugh. Thanks anyway for going to the trouble of explaining to me. And I do love your poetry.
