Willabee the bee was coming right along,
His acadam-bee grades buzzed strong.
He knew in his thorax he'd bee great
When he was older and in his place!

He remembered when his father came back
After he'd stung a bear that attacked.
His abdomen broken, he'd wasted away,
And died a pointless death next day.

Willabee wanted such deaths to prevent,
He was smart and struggled to invent
A shooter for artificial waxy stings,
To defend a hive from troublesome things!

Sorry to have missed yesterday. Been under the weather. Still feeling a bit weak, but wanted to check in.

All power to Willabee the bee. I wish him well in his mission. Given the latest reports of serious declines in hive populations, he needs all the support he can get.
As for today's solution, we can be sure our gal is not a stubble-tooter...

Tried the jumble last night before I went to bed; the clues weren't difficult but the solution just wouldn't come. This morning I reorganized all the needed letters and voila! Like the pun.

Inventive poem, Owen. I enjoyed Willabee's story. Good luck to him.

Lovely poem, Owen, many thanks. I couldn't get the second puzzle word for some reason and needed your poem and there it was! Felt so silly, since it's much easier than the third word. But I got the second word of the solution instantly, and after getting the second Jumble word I also got the first solution word without any trouble. The cartoon is neat--I like that it's the sharp young woman who can handle the skeet gun. The colors in the color version are bright and vivid, and I was surprised to see the skeet yellow--against the blue sky. Delightful Saturday morning Jumble.

So glad you checked in, Ol'Man Keith--I wondered how you were feeling. Sorry to hear it's not all better yet, but glad you're okay and that your solution parody wit is as keen as ever. Your comments are always fun.

Have a good day, everybody.

I too had unaccountable problems with #2. I must be getting on in years. I could get one of the solution words but I needed the letters from #2 .

OMK, glad you're feeling better and I'm guessing that Owen is too.

Of course everyone knows that"Willabee" is short for Wilbur the Bee.
