The opening poem contains all the words (or variations of them) from today's Jumble.

When on a public forum, whether FaceBook or Blogspot
There is a price to pay, whether it's known or not.
Oh, the advertising, clickbait and commissions?
Everyone's aware of from openly made admissions.
The price I mean is subtle, not for money gain.
It's collected by the trolls. Some think it's a game.
They influence you by a script, in ways you cannot see,
A menu of biases, to change minds most stealthily.
Some are trolls we see as trolls so offensive,
Crackpots with excess bile, spewed at our expenses.
Others are imperceptible, as butane in good air.
Misinformation, disinformation, leading us to err!
(Sorry to be so pedantic and not funny. I just finished reading an article on this topic.)
I needed help with the fourth word this morning, and so came to your poem for help, Owen. And there it was--voila--many thanks. (I'll look up your article, in just a minute). Once I had all the words, I started to play around to find the long solution. First thought it would have the word SPICE in it, but then, yay! I got the delightful and funny long word. Neat cartoon with the slightly older couple with glasses but nice clothes in the house and a pleasant back yard. Bet they had a great dinner!
Fascinating article about the origins of printing, Owen--many thanks.
Tough getting started today.
The clues were fine, except the fourth, which took a lot of staring at. But the solution wouldn't come -- maybe my brain is tired today. So I looked it up. No LOL. Maybe my humor bone is tired too.
Appreciated the poem, Owen. Serious topic rates serious treatment. Plaudits to you.
I especially hate drug ads, though that doesn't mean I like any of the other types.
