The opening poem contains all the words (or variations of them) from today's Jumble.

On Tuesday, the tutor put on his tuxedo.
In his two-door coupe, he drove to the Lido.
As expected, the parking lot was packed,
The place was a popular club, for a fact!

As he parked by the gutter, two blocks away
Whose back should he see, doing a sashay?
Tilly, who he knew well, was such a tease.
But a date for this night ought both to please.

He caught up to her on the walk to the club,
Offered her his arm, which she didn't snub.
They enjoyed the Lido, danced the night away,
And made plans to meet again on another day.

Plot-wise, I think this is the lamest I've ever done. Maybe there'll be something tomorrow to inspire a more interesting continuation.

It's a fair set-up for the Tutor/Tilly relationship, Owen. You've left yourself (& them) plenty of room to develop it as opportunity presents in future editions.

I was watching TV coverage of the Irwins' large Australian park where all sorts of native animals are given medical attention & allowed to live freely. On a smaller scale I am impressed by home-based programs, such as the protected zoo in the Bronx, N.Y.
With so much harm being done elsewhere to both flora & fauna and to the environment generally, it is reassuring to know some of our fellow humans are helping to redeem our presence on the planet.

Owen, I think you did a fantastic job of working in all those disparate words. A couple of them especially don't go together in any obvious way, but you created a story that put them there logically. Kudos to you.

As for the jumble, the clues were not a problem, and with all the necessary letters, neither was the solution. Kind of meh pun, but ingenious in a way too.

Had trouble with the fourth Jumble word and decided to wait and get help from Owen's poem. There was the word--yay! But Owen, I loved your gentle poem and found it a delight. And the Jumble solution was so obvious I almost felt as though I could've gotten it with no help from the words. But I liked it all the same, and found the drawing--with the worried husband and dog--and the pictures in back--actually very sweet.

I had no problems with J's or riddle. I guess it can be expected that one would park a coupe by the gutter.

Remnants of CED's granddaughter's new baby.
