That was pre Chet and Lois but as I recall Chet gave Lois a locket on her sober anniversary

In the window he saw a locket of topaz with a silvery chain
Nothing's to dear for his one and only, her love to obtain.
To show that she's his one and only - no playing the field
Jewelry and poetry sublime would her love for him yield

[The 'sonnet']
If you should ever leave, my love, I'd be shrouded in grief.
For attaining that love seemed batty, seemed beyond belief
This locket is testimony of my undying love and affection
I humbly attest "In you there's not the slightest imperfection "

I just realized #1 was also in there
And now to C&L
As chet gazed at the shiny locket on Lois' breast
He was infused with courage, ready to stand any test
He'd bought that topaz at auction, money He couldn't afford
He'd not remain silent, his vow to Lois he'd keep at any accord
[He thought]
"I'll marry her and cherish her forever even if she's my half sister
That's my final word on the matter, you gotta problem Mister?"

the silent auction with much good news.
Tom bought it and put it in his pocket,
planning to place it in a locket
that his love would treasure as a gift,
and would her spirits greatly lift.

How neat, Ol' Man Keith--I never thought of that shiny topaz as a fallen star! It would comfort a rainy day in your pocket, wouldn't it?
So many lovely verses today, I hardly know where to begin.
I'll start at the beginning, with warm thanks for your sweet Mother's Day poem, OMK.
Father's Day is coming up, the first one for me with 93 year old Dad gone. But how lovely to continue to celebrate our parents.
Wilbur, how kind of Chet to compose a lovely sonnet for Lois about giving her a locket of topaz. Will look forward to her response.
