The opening poem contains all the words (or variations of them) from today's Jumble.
Comments are welcomed! And couching them in Poetry is definitely NOT required.
Do not explicitly reveal any of the actual answer words until after closing time, but embedding them surreptitiously in comment sentences is encouraged.

"Moment of Peace"
The fellow had finished his chores,
and took a walk uphill outdoors.
In a moment of apathy he had to confess
that he embodied a life with no excess.
He dredged up thoughts about fossils ages ago,
in a primitive world with no rain or snow.
This silence did all his worries release
and the fellow remained calm and at peace.
Took a few tries but I got today's Wordle:

Hey, where is everybody? It's Sunday morning, and I'm lonely.

Sorry to see you here all alone on Sunday mornings.
You know it’s my day off, but even though I don’t do Crossword or Jumble I usually look in & comment on others’ posts.
Today I almost stayed away entirely. But…
Anyway, I can say your poem gave me something to think about. Your lonely fellow seemed to find solace in a form of meditation, musing on ancient times. At least that’s how I read it—a time so early in the life of Life that there were not yet any fossils.
Of course there could not have been any Homo sapiens then, not as we understand them. I doubt any fossil record could have preceded sentient humans.
It always boggles my mind to imagine how many aeons it took to develop (or “descend”) as reflective beings.
Sunday mornings are good for abstract thought, eh?

I meant it the other way around. We humans could not have preceded fossils!

Thank you for checking in, Ol' Man Keith. I had pretty much decided that if no one checked in today, I would leave the blog. So your coming by and reflecting on my verse has saved my day. Many thanks.
Well, Misty, if no one steps forward to take the reins, this may be the last week for anyone to access the site.
With Owen's planned retirement, and none of us (few) prepared to devote the extra time, we will only have the Corner as the place to congregate.
It was fun while it lasted, eh?

It was (and still is, at the moment) wonderful, and I hate the idea of having it close.
But here's my question: Owen still posts poetry on the Corner--so could you post your haiku and could I post my poems on the corner? If so, that wouldn't be so bad. I thought that the whole reason the Jumble became an off-shoot of the Corner was because C.C. didn't want poetry and the like there. But now that Owen's doing it, it has to be okay, doesn't it? If so, then that might be the best solution all around.
Let me know what you think. It's helpful to think about all this now.
I don’t know why we weren’t to post Jumble stuff on the Corner. I don’t recall seeing an explanation.
I think I heard it from Owen, but only indirectly. Something about not inviting people over.
But my memory is crappy, anyway.
I always preferred the look of the Jumble page. The color and font, &c.
And while there are far fewer folk, that makes for more intimacy.
We mustn’t complain. We get what we pay for.

Re: Crossword Corner, this blog was started because there were objections to Jumble being too off-topic there (and Wordle too when it came around) There was even an objection to too many cross-postings with invites to come over here. Those were allowed, as long as they weren't tooo numerous, but they were getting that way.
The instructions I posted a few days ago will result in the newspaper copy like the one above, instead of the cleaner (IMHO) image I create. Comments please.
