Reposting from last night
Nora's place was a favorite abode for her niece, Lois
For her, with the foliage and and conures in the aviary
Plus neat doilies laid out it was like being in the realm of faerie
All was peaceful at Nora's, and nothing was ever amiss
Except perhaps Holly, Nora's niece from the other side of the family
Lois hoped that she wouldn't rekindle past feuds and enmity
Perhaps this was prime ninth step atonement time , a God-spot
Chet had been cajoling her to make amends which had come to naught.
Chet had his own agenda and needed to corner Charles if he could
For to Uncle Charles he owed thanks for his current livelihood

Our power was out yesterday from 10am until midnight, and I didn’t get here.
I have done today’s Wordle, but am playing “catch-up” and may not get back.
I chose the wrong tense (vowel) in guess two.

"Earthquake Wreck"
The terrible midnight earthquake
made Walter jump up, wide awake.
He quickly went out on his deck
and saw his house had become a wreck.
His cat was gone and he did search,
finding her shaking, on a birch.
Some catnip got her to come,
and he was relieved to still have his chum.
Insurance helped him get home repair
and now he and his cat have a swanky place to share.
Complicated family relationships going on, Wilbur, and you portray them with a delightful rhyme. I loved the way you put together 'aviary' and 'faerie,' and Lois and 'amiss'.
Ol' Man Keith, I can never believe how you got all four Jumble words and solution in your lovely haiku. And how cool that the spa would provide catnip for the pussy cat.
So sorry to hear about your power outage, CanadianEh!--must have been terrible. Glad you're okay, and thanks for your Wordle this morning. Mine took a bit more work than yours:

Misty ~ Good for Walter, who ended up better off after that serious temblor.
Reminds me of a few quakes we've been through; I can recall a nasty one in SoCal and a worse one back in the '50s in San Francisco.
But catnip and insurance apparently saved Walter & Cat!

I am back from the dermatologist.
Two probable facial cancers were biopsied, and a whole mess of spots got the nitrogen treatment. Now my face is "Ow. OW. OW!"
But it will get better.
Meanwhile... I se no action here while I was gone.

Ol' Man Keith, sounds like an important, if not easy or unproblematic, doctor's visit today. But important for heading off any future problems. Get some rest and take good care of yourself.
No additional posts, but nice to hear from everyone--especially Wilbur's cool Chet and Lois update. And Owen posted some fun verses on the Crossword Corner. CanadianEh!s power outage sounds terrible, and I hope all will be well at her home tomorrow. So a pretty good Jumble day, I feel, even if not easy for everyone, including you.
Fln, OMK re. Chets livelihood. When Chet came before the Dean he was told, " The only major you have any hope for passing is Economics.*
So he's working downtown and maybe in a bank or brokerage. Charles helped him get a position.
Re. Lois. AA says when you have a resentment pray for that person. Find no fault. Typically Lois might say, " I am sorry if I've offended, please forgive me. Period. No fault finding etc.

I can imagine Chet in a brokerage that specializes in residential mortgages, but in a department that monitors fair treatment for the homeowners. Keeping the vultures honest, as it were.
And thanks for helping me follow Lois' thinking. My only caveat or reservation is with the "if" in her expression,
"IF I've offended...."
We know by now that an "if" invalidates any apology. She should just assume "that" she has offended.
And if Holly (or anyone) tries to pin her down, it is fair for Lois to ask, "Well, what made you take offense?" (And then try not to argue over it.)
