Todayโ€™s Jumble haiku:

โ€œFats In Their Primeโ€

Foraging for food,
the patrolโ€™s meal-makers slashed
five chubby piglets.

Think of the Renaissance, a time of re-birth,
an era of great art, of tragedy & mirth.
While it started in Italy, it spoke to all the โ€ฆ..!

I was third of nine, then eight.
My name is Mud, sad to relate.
Wind on my face,
I'm a watery place.
And fire some day will be my fate.

"Mindful Maid"

The maid was outdoors, trying to slash
some objects she had to put into the trash.
Back in the kitchen she worked to forage
some leftovers to be diced for the porridge.
She was also an excellent baker,
and valued as a birthday cake maker.
She also took the time she would need
to give the family piglet some feed.
And so, over the passage of time,
her employers their praise for her did chime.

Shouldn't have taken me four tries to get it, but I guess all the possible clues confused me a bit:

Still, fun to give it a try.

Ol Man Keith, is the Renaissance one of your areas of interest? I would have figured you more as a Modernist.

Owen, fascinating character? So, who or what, exactly, is Mud?

OMK, Wilbur, and CanadianEh!, I liked seeing all of your Wordles and just wish I could have put all of your hints together better and have us get one on a single try.
Maybe tomorrow!

A Birthday Musing

Mother Earth teaches us well
That She is the Maker of everything swell;
From piglets that forage in their sty,
To comets slashing through the sky.
The passage of time reminds us too,
To number our days before theyโ€™re through.

Owen gives us a W poem that skirts all around the word. With Pluto gone, it becomes one of eight.

OMK- you almost make a vegetarian of me with your haiku about those cute little piglets - slashed. Great title.

Misty- that maid sure was busy slashing a dicing (for porridge?!). How timely that she was making a birthday cake today (for me?!).

Our days are indeed numbered, CanadianEh!, and nothing reminds us of that more than our birthdays!
Eh?
Congrats on riding the planet for another lap of the sun, and thank you for your poetic tribute to our common mother (and No, I don't mean Britannia this time!).

Misty ~ Your Maid is certainly mindful today. Indoors, outdoors, all around the place!
I see where feeding the "family piglet" is one of her chores. Presumably, she does not alert the lil' guy to his eventual fate, hopefully at the hands of some other family.
As to my interest in the Renaissance, I figure it to be of interest to ALL of us--right?
When reading the hints, keep in mind that when I provide a poetic hint, my final missing word is ALWAYS an exact rhyme of the W-word.
That should save you from too much exploring.
