Todayโ€™s Jumble haiku:
(Most of the bourgeoisie of our community are what we call โ€œtransactional.โ€ They only giveโ€”of their assets [or themselves]โ€”if they get [& right away, please].
This rather limits their ability to grasp, erโ€”abstractionsโ€ฆ)

It was a dark and foggy night.
No other assassins were in sight.
My Ninja senses were at their flood!
Thirst for action ran hot in my blood!

My victim's face had just now shown,
Looking out from behind the throne.
Wrinkled brow and shifty eye.
Tonight the King's evil vizer must die!

The room was filling, burghers with petitions
Appealing to the King for decisions.
Thru a gap in the crowd, my mini crossbow
Sends a bolt past the throne to deliver its blow!

He falls silently back, without a cry,
Not to be found till maids swing by,

Swing Batter Swing

I donโ€™t have a notion so foggy,
Why folks would make it a hobby,
To watch a piece of wood so knobby,
Eat a hotdog or burger so soggy,
And a melting ice cream cone,
Then on the kiss-cam be shown.
Please shift your focus to the ball game.

"Good Job"

Susan was almost fifty,
and she was thrifty and never shifty.
On a foggy day she was shown
how to work on the phone from home.
Her task was burgers to sell,
and she did so very well
that her boss a big raise did bring
which made her swing and sing.

OMK- I smiled at your burghers (and then I smiled again to see that Owen had transposed from the BBQ fare as well. The J answer was difficult to make into a title, but you found a way (and a good back story). But I canโ€™t find the S J word.

Owen- a masterful poem today incorporating all the J words into a riveting story. Well done!

FLN- Misty- I figured out that your comment was meant for me. Thanks for the praise of my work.
WC and I both left you Wordle hints yesterday, but they were more subtle than OMKโ€™s usually are. You have plenty of clues today. Just keep rhyming with OMK.

Thanks for the good advice, CanadianEh!, but I came up with a rhyme for OMK's "stamps" but none of the letters--apparently not a single one--would work for the Wordle. So I'm really puzzled, and could use more hints if you, or anyone, has any. Meanwhile, have a great day!

Ol' Man Keith, I liked your verse about Bobby, but apparently his stamps aren't used in his _amps, which my Wordle wouldn't accept. No problem, I still liked your haiku and poem, and hope you have a great day today.

Owen, I always love learning new words from you. The one today was a delight: I have neighbors down the street who have a large American flag posted on their front patio. But it never occurred to me that they might be "vexillogists"!

CanadianEh!, I have to admit that your verse today doesn't tempt me to go to a ballgame. Think I'll just stay home and watch the monarch butterflies cruising around the flowers in my front and back yard.

Where are you, Wilbur--we miss you.

You are rhyming the wrong word, Misty. We don't always work in couplets.

There is no rhyme for "stamps." There needn't be if you imagine my last two lines as one very long line.

CanadianEh! ~ Youโ€™re correct: I have one S-word today, but not the other!
I just forgot about that one. I was so pleased (as punch!) about my poem, I neglected that word. Yikes!
But hereโ€™s a solution:
Substitute two words for โ€œonlyโ€ in my 2nd line. Those two monosyllabic words are โ€œshown but.โ€
And I believe we have an improvement all around.

Enjoyed your ball game poem. Yes, you are right again: the appeal of baseball goes beyond the game to all the peripheral items & antics, the silly but equally historical things that go along with the game, including (now that the kiss-cam is a major feature) regular, rampant PDAs!

Misty ~ Have you got it yet?
CEhโ€™s advice was sound. I tested my W verse last night on my wife. I read it aloud and paused before the final word. Without hesitation, she spoke it aloud.
Perhaps you need another voice to read it to you, to get your eyes OFF the page.

Nice to know (along with your Susan) that selling burgers can be so uplifting. But I suppose she brings a better attitude to the job than I ever would. It takes a special spirit of generosity to overcome the waves of heat emanating from the greasy grill to โ€œswing and singโ€ as you say she does!

Misty- oh dear, you need to rhyme with the first three line endings. Oh, I see you got it. Bravo for doing a good jobby.
Susan was fortunate to make a success of her new job selling burgers. Phone sales can be a difficult job. Iโ€™m glad that she can still swing and sing even though nearly fifty. Good exercise.
I have monarch butterflies on my zinnias today too (plus a hummingbird). So beautiful.

OMK- yes, substituting โ€œshown butโ€ does make it better. I am glad I noticed as I donโ€™t always police everyoneโ€™s poems to make sure all the J words were used!

Thank you for the kind comment, CanadianEh!. And I love hearing that you have monarch butterflies too! Aren't they a gift! We are so lucky!
