Patty was so proud,
hearing the applause of the crowd.
She would happily have spoken
but the microphone was broken.
And so she realized that she must

But her only realistic chance
was to perform a crazy dance,
which made the people's jaws drop,
because this ending was over the top.

That W was a combination of infrequently used letters. Misty, if you used an I in that middle spot, that would be an alternative spelling.
Owen uses another meaning. And WC, tried the chicken.
OMK- that J answer was hard to Spooner. You took a different combination and made it work. And your haiku is very true. I had to really stretch to make any kind of sense out of my Spooner. Oh well, we work with what we are given.
Misty- at least Patty was open to adaptation. Maybe she was jopping in that โover the topโ dance.
CEh! ~ A true spoonerism is nearly impossible when dealing with a โDโ and an Anglophone โJโโbecause both begin with a phonetic โD.โ
Our sound for a typical English โJโ is made by combining the phonemes of โDโ and โZh.โ That means we canโt switch the starts of these words, as theyโre exactly alike.
The dance teacher in your poem seems to be a disciple of Grotowski, with his aim to place self expression above non-adjusted โtraditional moves.โ
Only those engaged in such a quest know how hard it is to make an original gesture. Clichรฉ is always our first โpersonalโ step, isnโt it?

Your Pattyโs ending may have been over the top, but that often beats more modest gestures.
That phrase, โover the top,โ usually means โbroadโ and in โpoor taste,โ but it is a gamble at least in the direction of originality.
