The opening poem contains all the words (or variations of them) from today's Jumble.

We appreciate all you do, Owen ~
But please DOUBLE-Check that the clue words are correct. Unfortunately, I spent a lot of time, on and off, yesterday trying to reach the solution to J6--only to find that the wrong clue words are posted there.
When I was stuck I checked your poem for hints. I picked up on some of them & finally started in the right direction. But with the wrong clue letters I couldn't get very far.
Sorry to complain, but I'm afraid this was a major breach.

Happily, these clues were all Monday-easy, a fun batch that led directly to a most appropriate solution.
A good way to start the week that will take us all into Summer!

Clothes cover the body for modesty,
Jewelry covers clothing for quality.
The first gives mercy from nudity,
The latter saves us from mundanity.
Jewelry can be flashy with wealth,
Or have special meaning to self.
Diamonds and rubies, gems galore;
Or a simple quartz charm to adore.
Some gauds are bought with much scratch,
Others, home made right from scratch.
Which is worth more, stuff from a store,
Or keepsakes an ancestor once wore?
Keith: my humble apologies. I use each previous post as template for the current one, and apparently failed to post yesterday's clues over the ones from last week. Following the missing circle a couple days ago, I shall have to be more diligent in the future. Tho I'm a little surprised anyone is using (I assume) a print-out from this site rather than one of the interactive sites!
Owen ~
I appreciate your apology & explanation. I know how hard you work to keep this page for us and to maintain your strong poetic presence here and on the Corner. You are your own editor, so I shouldn't be surprised there aren't more errors!
I dunno about the others, but I never looked at the interactive sites until recently. I don't print out this page, but just jot the clue letters on a note pad & go from there. It was when I got so severely stuck yesterday that I went to another site to seek help.
I don't usually do the jumbles on Sundays. I do look in, and when I saw how sparse the response was yesterday, I thought I'd make an effort. Otherwise, I might have recognized last week's clues.

Or... I SHOULD be surprised.
I can never get the hang of these double negatives. Too many years researching Elizabethan lit and paleography have spoiled me for modern chats.

Home from the hospital. I now have a catheter in. generally lousy day.
Yowch.
I've had those twice. The worst is when they come to pull 'em out.
