If a fabric wholesaler testifies at a trial,
Does that mean he's a material witness?
If a cowboy wears a paper shirt that is noisy,
Does a posse pursue him as a rustler?
We haven't been up there to the Moon in years.
May we take NASA to court in a space suit?
Can we equate a weaving loom's warp and woof
With a dog that runs faster than light?
If you've followed the thread of these queries,
Does that mean we are clothes to the end?

Your poetical questions are a playful delight, Brother Owen. Thank you for posing them in a manner that leads us to reflect on the peculiarities of our language.
Today's solution required a bit of thought, but I believe my own age helped me to tally the ol' dame's donkey's ears.

Very glad and relieved to see you back, Owen.

This jumble was easy peasy Monday. Clues came with no hesitation, and the solution popped right out at me. Aren't we all!

I find today's poem terrific. It's clever and funny and I really hope that you like it too, Owen.

Happy Birthday, Owen--your poems are such a gift!

I had trouble only with item three in today's Jumble, so I went on to see if I could figure out the solution without it, and Tada!--it worked. The solution gave me the four circled letters and that in turn gave me the missing item. Then checked Owen's poem to see if I got it right, and I did. A great Monday when everything--puzzle, Sudoku, Kenken, and Jumble-- worked out perfectly.

Loved your clever comment, Ol'Man Keith, and am glad the senior hiker had a second cane to help her get up there on that mountain. Cute sporty hats on the ladies.

Owen - great poem as always. Haven't checked it for clues yet - will try to do Jumble w/o any 1st.

FLN - thanks for the heads up - I got the correct one at the Chicago paper's site, and will use that one from now on instead of USA Today.

I hope you're able to get out of that funk and have a very happy birthday. I've been there - a month before my 69th b'day we undertook a move to Hawaii, and everything that could possibly go wrong, did. I was content where we were and this move really had me down. But once we got moved in the peace and quiet, beautiful scenery and balmy weather lifted my spirits. There are a lot of downsides to ageing in a rural area, but overall I'm pretty much back to general contentment - even occasional pleasure.
