I miss Owen. Sure hope he's ok. He posted the jumbles, so I'm thinking he's basically allright. My fingers are crossed.

As for thejumbles, I made my way through j4 with some difficulty in the third clue. Took me some time to get that. But the solution was clear once all the letters were there.

Pooped out on the j6, especially the third clue. And without that, I blanked on the last word of the solution, even though I already had the first two. Gave up and went to the answer site. Oh well, some days are not great.

Hoping to see poems today. But Owen, you take care of yourself first.

Jumble four and jumble six can wait
June the 2nd’s not a pressing date.
Let Owen have a grand day of rest,
Perhaps in bed, content and blessed.

I left my newspaper in the car. I got the six J's and I'm guessing that the "two" words were TABLE OF. Even when I solve J's I can't remember the words.

Looking at the words I was wondering what Owen would come with.

Too late for my Wilbur magic poetry wise.

This was really scewed up, at least on the USA Today site. In the letters for the solution there was no E (2 were needed), no F, only one N and two T's. When I gave up & pressed "Solve" it put in "TABL_ O_ CONT____, and left IUGBAB unused. I really wanted it to be TABLE OF CONTENTS too, can't think of what else it could be, but what's with the computer solution?

This has happened on this site before - once the number of letters didn't match the number of squares in the solution.

Mike: Glad to see you're still around! I'd been wondering about you!
Yes, I just checked out that USA & NOLA sites, and boy was it messed up! At least they had the clue letters right, but all the bubbles in the wrong places, and not even the right number of them!

My apologies for a bit of burn-out on my poetry today. Only slightly atoned for with blank verse tomorrow.

I didn't realize how difficult some might find these solutions,
Sorry now that I did not italicize the key words in my 2nd couplet...
But since I wasn't using rhymes I did not wish to draw too much attention to the hints.

Owen - thanks for the heads up - I got the correct one at the Chicago paper's site, and will use that one from now on instead of USA Today.

I hope you're able to get out of that funk and have a very happy birthday. I've been there - a month before my 69th b'day we undertook a move to Hawaii, and everything that could possibly go wrong, did. I was content where we were and this move really had me down. But once we got moved in the peace and quiet, beautiful scenery and balmy weather lifted my spirits. There are a lot of downsides to ageing in a rural area, but overall I'm pretty much back to general contentment - even occasional pleasure.
