Welcome, All, to the first full day of Fall!
FLN, WC ~ Thank you for giving us Lois’s own words, her vivid description of how she “foraged for the nuggets of truth” on her path to sobriety.
But isn’t it amusing to note how even someone as intelligent as Lois can err (just as my dim giant [see below]) when reaching for the word “lucid” or “lucidly”?!
~ OMK
Today’s Jumble haiku:
Seven-foot Sven suffers from something between aphasia & malapropism—not allowing him the most precise application of words.
And now, glowing as he is, he’s a…
“Long Time to be Seen”
This giant has a
taste for moose potpie. He claims
it keeps him lucent.

Good catch, OMK. I should have looked the word up.
Lois one day began to think lucidly after awakening to a lucent dawn's light
WC
Game Recipe
Onions fried until translucent,
Ground moose meat,
Green Giant baby peas,
Puffy pastry.
Yummers! I’m in my glory.
I haven’t seen a pot pie like that
For a long time.
OMK- Amazing how our offerings today dovetailed. I gave you a recipe for that pot pie.
Lucent is not a common word and easily confused with lucid. We won’t hold it against poor Sven (or Lois).
WC- great to see more news about Lois. Her supportive sponsor family play such an important role. We can’t do it alone!
“No man is an island.”
"Set Pet"
The giant was defiant
and would not be compliant
about letting his moose loose,
and so kept him on a noose.
He was a lucid guy
who fed his moose pot-pie.
This was the pet of his prime
and he cared for him a long time.
The moose gave him a sea of pleasure
and therefore was a treasure.

Your recipe looks so delicious, CEh!
Let's hope it does not encourage an increase in licensed moose hunters, come season!
(But Sven asks if we might add a bit of cheese to it. He does like his cheese.)
Ah, Misty, you turn the table on us. Now you let Moose be the eater of the pie (not the one being eaten). On behalf of anti-mammalist-cannibals everywhere, we thank you.
But who's going to stand up for the chickens? (Or is there such a thing as a vegan potpie?)
We can't give you full marks for covering all of today's words. But how clever of you to avoid the "Lucent" question--by omitting that J-word entirely!
~ OMK
Just for Sven, we can add some grated cheese. Apparently Applewood smoked cheddar or smoked Provokone are recommended pairings.
For our vegan friends, we can do a veggie pot pie (using tofurky or tofu chunks). I don’t think they have a tofmoosey!
Misty adjusted lucent to lucid. She even managed to get SEA into her rhyme, along with Long Time. Great way to turn the tables and save that moose from being the dinner!
"Lucent" and "Lucid" are both words that track the movement of light, from the Latin "Lucere" = "to shine."
Lucent emits light, sends it out, while lucid shines it inward.

Ol' Man Keith, I'm always amused at the way you work all the J words and solution into you haiku and its title. I check and count them every morning and they're always there. And thank you for sort of letting me get away with lucid ('lucent' got marked as incorrect word the first time I tried it). So your explanation is a kind help.
My moose also thanks you for being an anti-mammalist-cannibal.
Wilbur, I love your "lucent dawn's light."
And then you go a step farther and give us "translucent," CanadianEh!, along with those delightful "giant baby peas". And thank you too for cheering on my saved moose.
And thank you for the helpful hint, OMK--it helped me get the Wordle on my second try:
