Today’s Jumble haiku:
In working the puzzle mentioned below, I found myself with one final piece.
But I was …
“(Not) Stumped By It”
I pulled one from the
petite mound of jigsaws, and
guessed my way through it!

Letter to Wilbur from Chet]
I guess your wondering about the progress of my wedding plans
Yes, it's a mound of work after all, remember, I'm not used to humans
There are many pieces to assemble, this jigsaw of matrimony
A veritable mound of people and places the real and the phony
I wish we had a guide, a wedding planner sublime
For example, reception halls are in high demand at this time
But nothing will hinder yours truly and ma petite chou
I just need to jump right at it there's so much to do.
And of course Lois is always siding with Charles and Aunt Nora
But regardless, yours truly will go along because you know I just adore her
WC
"Pert Player"
Patty was young and petite
when she was invited to a meet
where players were asked to guess
the best moves in a game of chess.
She soon reached the top of the mound
and became valued and renowned.
But she then made a serious flaw
and lost out in a game of jig-saw.
The experience left her stumped
but to new enterprises she jumped.
Now Patty is winning once more
with many more projects in store.
Sounds like Chet is preparing to soldier on and get this wedding done! The scale seems more and more enormous in his eyes, a “veritable mound” from any perspective, but he’s biting the bullet (as we say) out of love for his Lois—and respect for Charles & Nora.
Be sure to give him all our best, Wilbur!
Misty ~ Your Patty seems a true game/puzzle genius! She’s both an ace at predicting the best chess moves and a jigsaw queen, adept at assembling those corner and center pieces. These are not your usual talent combinations, which makes her skills all the more remarkable.
So what if she made a misstep with her puzzle pieces?! Everyone is allowed a slip now & then.
It comes as no surprise that she’s already back to her winning ways.
Any tips on this queen’s favorite gambit?
~OMK
You did it again, Ol' Man Keith--got all the J words and solution into your haiku, with a clever play on Jumped. And not surprising your verse worked through everything--given how brilliantly you manage these things every day.
Thank you, too, for your kind words about Patty. Hope she lets you know about the queen's favorite gambit (I have no idea).
Wilbur, give Chet a pat on the back and tell him to hang in there. Wedding preparations are not easy and take a lot of work, but we're all hoping his will turn out to be terrific!

La Petite Dรฉcision
Her life was like the scattered pieces of a jigsaw puzzle,
The desire for booze she needed to muzzle;
It had usurped her freedom to enjoy each day,
Leaving no guess-work that she was going to pay.
Then like a pitch from the mound,
A meeting site was found,
And she jumped at it.
Late to the party today.
I thought I was going to get Wordle in two guesses today with my old fashioned word for interest gouging. Alas, it was a P not a Y that was needed.
I deleted my first poem after reading all your offerings, when I realized I had omitted one of the J words. I added another line.
OMK- you continue to amaze us with your ability to get all those words into a short haiku . . . and still make sense.
WC- lovely update n Chet and Nora. Yes, planning a wedding can be frustrating.
Misty- great story about Patty and her comeback. I loved that she was Pert but not necessarily expert.
CanadianEh!, I gather the woman in your verse is not Lois, but it would be nice to get a name or something for her. She's beginning to move me with her journey to a better life. Thank you for those charming verses.
