There was a furor in the mall,
A capuchin running loose!
A busker with accordion
Had let him slip his noose!
He had run up to a pet store
There he'd visit kith and kin,
And opened forty cages
On his journey to within!

The puppies and the kittens
Were content curled in a nap,
But a member of the Mustela
Was out the door in just a snap!
The capuchin saw him exit,
Thought a chase might be great fun,
And so set off in hot pursuit
As fast as he could run!

Shoppers were in an uproar
As two furry foes flashed thru,
Homing on a season kiosk
For the fire-works lighting crew!
Round and round they chased,
The mall was in upheaval!
Then the monkey threw a roll of caps,
And POP went the weasel!

Happy Fourth, everybody!
Take care if you're on or near the National Mall today--or watch on TV. Word is out that there's a monkey loose, rallying all his kin! Some kind of beast. Not an Orang, but an Organ grinder monk, or is it some sort of an "Origin" type or "Orange" critter?
Not sure now what I heard. Take care.

Fun poem, Owen, and nice to see all put one of the Jumble words in your last verse. I had trouble only with the fourth word, but you helped me get that one, Owen. And the solution popped right up for me. Interesting cartoon--so un-Fourth-of-July like, but still cute. Like seeing the flag on the one guy's shirt.

Have a great day, everyone.

This jumble was not quite as easy as they have been recently. In fact, I gave up on the last clue word, and went to your poem, Owen. Already had the solution, but even knowing the two relevant letters didn't help. Oh well.

Really love the fun poem. It tells a great story in fine poetic fashion. And I learned that a mustela is a weasel, for a bonus. Or is a weasel a mustela? Lol.

And I learned that a capuchin is a monkey. From Palatka to the woods north of Palatka and back through to Palatka.

I'm in St Augustine in a seedy motel with five parrots. No TBTimes so for once I did it but with no jot pad.

I put the two sixes into the back of the brain and finally out they popped.

It might have been more than two minutes today. I should have checked the time.
