The cocktail lounge was a place to mingle,
Which Ginnie did, till she felt a tingle.
She'd caught Harry's eye, and he came near,
With his wolfish grin from ear to ear.

His manner was suave as said "My dear,
You brighten the atmosphere in here!"
She looked in limpid pools of his eyes,
Lost in those indigo orbs, she sighed.

A sonata was playing soft in the air,
The two conversed as if none else was there.
Past romances taught, time and time again
To keep her heart sheltered from such pain.

But Harry's ways, so kind and gentle
Elicited responses of love elemental.
She guessed his words were horse manure,
But she dug that, since hers were no truer.

Well, this was a curious Sunday Jumble for me. I had problems with many of the words, although I did get TAUGHT, MANURE, and SONATA. But when I read the cartoon, the solution jumped right out at me, even though I had no letters to work with yet. Jumbles rarely work that way for me, but this one did. I then came to your poem, Owen, and that helped me get the missing words and verified that I had the correct solution. So, a pretty successful Sunday Jumble after all!

I liked seeing the cartoon in color, especially the flag on the fellow's T shirt.

Have a great day, everybody.

Brilliant, cynical poem!
These jumbles were well suited to one another. You could run the solutions back to back.
Glad the 2nd one came to you so quickly, Misty. It can be a kick when that happens!

Well, that's what I did. All words from BOTH Jumbles are in just the one poem, tho the word that was duplicated in both was only used once.

I finally got around to the 6*6. I'd peeked earlier and got INDIGO. I knew it'd be tough going. The Riddle-Solution popped right up as Misty related.

I finally got four and worked backwards. MANURE dropped leaving SONATA which took awhile. I tried all my tricks.

I didn't look at the 4*4. Nice work getting ten in there. Was there a dupe?

And the theme of the poem: Clubbing Love. We used to call it "Going Campaigning". "Every trick in the Book " as the song went. Speaking of tricks.
